The posting

Do you currently work as a Transportation Security Officer (TSO) at Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport (ROC)? Leidos is pursuing the TSA Screening Partnership Program (SPP) task order at ROC, and we value the experience, certifications, and professionalism of the officers who keep ROC’s checkpoint and baggage screening running every day. If we are awarded the work, we want to offer experienced screening professionals the chance to continue the mission with Leidos. We encourage both full-time and part-time TSOs to express interest. Same important mission. A potential new team.

Leidos’ Homeland Sector’s Airports, Borders, and Security (ABS) business area delivers air travel modernization, border protection, and critical infrastructure security solutions that help build a safer, more resilient homeland. Operating globally across aviation security, passenger screening, cybersecurity, and border and port security, ABS integrates next-generation technologies to secure the movement of people and goods worldwide.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Screen passengers, carry-on baggage, and checked baggage for prohibited items and potential threats using TSA-approved procedures and technology, including CT X-ray, credential authentication, advanced imaging, walk-through metal detectors, explosives trace detection, and bottled-liquid scanners.
  • Conduct pat-down searches, hand-wand screening, and physical bag searches in accordance with TSA Standard Operating Procedures, treating every traveler with courtesy, respect, and professionalism.
  • Resolve alarms, including on-screen alarm resolution of checked-baggage images and physical searches in the Checked Baggage Resolution Area; monitor the checkpoint exit lane when assigned.
  • Assist travelers with disabilities or medical conditions, communicate clearly, and de-escalate situations as TSA procedures require.
  • Complete and maintain required TSA training, certifications, proficiency reviews, and medical re-certification.
  • Document and report incidents and security concerns, and safeguard Sensitive Security Information (SSI).

Work Schedule:

  • Full-time schedule: 40 hours per week. Part-time schedule: flexible, up to 30 hours per week (not to exceed 1,560 hours per year).
  • ROC checkpoint operations run from about 3:30 AM to 9:30 PM on weekdays and 3:30 AM to 8:00 PM on weekends. Early-morning, evening, weekend, and holiday availability is required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • U.S. citizen or U.S. national; must be able to obtain and maintain a TSA Public Trust determination, which requires U.S. citizenship.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED/HiSET/TASC); OR at least one year of full-time work experience in security work, aviation screener work, or X-ray technician work.
  • Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking, and listening).
  • Meet applicable TSA screening personnel qualification and assessment requirements.
  • Pass and maintain required medical evaluations, including vision, hearing, and joint mobility
  • Pass pre-employment drug screening and remain compliant with the drug and alcohol testing program throughout employment.
  • Successfully complete TSA pre-hire vetting, including background, criminal history, and financial checks.
  • Able to lift or carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds (or assist others in lifting) and stand for periods of up to three hours.
  • Maintain required training and certifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current TSA certification in passenger checkpoint and/or checked-baggage screening (dual-function certification).
  • Current or recent experience screening at ROC.

Clearance/Vetting:

  • Minimum clearance to start: TSA Public Trust. A Secret clearance is not required for TSO roles.
  • Pre-hire vetting and suitability determination (Entry-on-Duty) through TSA Personnel Security is required.

How to Express Interest:

  • Submit your interest at https://careers.leidos.com/ - Please include your current role, certification levels, and whether you prefer full-time or part-time work.
  • Please respond on your own time and personal devices — not during work hours or on your current employer’s systems.

This opportunity is contingent upon Leidos’ award of the TSA Screening Partnership Program task order at ROC and work authorization. Submitting an application expresses interest in potential employment and does not guarantee an offer, continued employment, or placement. Any employment offer will be subject to applicable Leidos and TSA hiring, qualification, and vetting requirements.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
