Job Description:

Your Impact

Join Leonardo's Radar and Electro Optical (EO) Systems Engineering community and help deliver some of the UK's most advanced sensing and surveillance capabilities.

We are recruiting Systems Engineers with interests in Model Based Systems Engineering across multiple career levels, from engineers developing their MBSE skills through to experienced MBSE practitioners and technical leaders. Working across the full engineering lifecycle, you will apply systems engineering principles and systems thinking to define, analyse, integrate, verify and optimise complex systems that contribute directly to critical defence programmes.

You will work within multidisciplinary teams, using MBSE approaches to improve understanding, communication and decision-making across complex technical challenges. Whether developing architectures, analysing requirements, supporting verification activities or enabling digital engineering transformation, you will help shape the future of Leonardo's Radar and EO capabilities.

Alongside challenging technical work, you will have opportunities to develop your MBSE expertise, broaden your systems engineering knowledge, deepen your domain understanding, grow your leadership skills, and work towards professional registration and Chartership.

Where this vacancy is being recruited across more than one grade, the successful candidate will be appointed to a specific assessed grade, and the applicable salary range will be that associated with the grade of appointment.

What you'll do

  • Apply Systems Engineering principles and Systems Thinking across the engineering lifecycle.
  • Use Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies, frameworks, and tools to support systems engineering activities.
  • Develop and maintain system models, architectures, requirements, behaviours, interfaces, and analysis products.
  • Support the design, integration, verification, validation, and acceptance of complex Radar and EO systems.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary and specialist engineering teams.
  • Contribute to requirements definition, trade studies, design reviews, and engineering decision making.
  • Support the continuous improvement of systems engineering processes, tools, and ways of working.
  • Engage with customers and stakeholders to understand needs and communicate technical solutions.
  • At senior levels, lead work packages, provide technical direction, mentor engineers, and support capability development across the business.

What you'll bring

We welcome applications from engineers with a range of experience and b

backgrounds. You may have experience in some of the following areas:

Essential

  • Experience applying Systems Engineering principles and Systems Thinking within a complex engineering environment.
  • Experience across one or more Systems Engineering disciplines, including requirements engineering, system architecture development, integration, verification, or validation.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills.

Desirable

  • Experience with SysML, UML, or related modelling standards.
  • Experience with MBSE tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler, MagicDraw, Enterprise Architect, Rhapsody, Capella, or equivalent.
  • Experience with applying MBSE frameworks such as MagicGrid
  • Experience within Radar, EO, sensing, command and control, aerospace, defence, electronics, software-intensive systems, or other safety-critical or mission-critical sectors.
  • Experience planning and delivering engineering work packages, with increasing levels of responsibility and technical leadership.

For senior opportunities, experience leading multidisciplinary teams, mentoring engineers, influencing engineering strategy, and engaging with customers would be advantageous.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
