The posting

OT Engineer

Tampa, FL

Today, Lonza is a global leader in life sciences operating across five continents. While we work in science, there’s no magic formula to how we do it. Our greatest scientific solution is talented people working together, devising ideas that help businesses to help people. In exchange, we let our people own their careers. Their ideas, big and small, genuinely improve the world. And that’s the kind of work we want to be part of.

Join our Tampa manufacturing site as an OT Systems Engineer where you will support critical automation and operational technology systems that help deliver high-quality pharmaceutical products. This role offers the opportunity to work across manufacturing, laboratory, and utility environments while driving reliability, compliance, and continuous improvement.

What you will get:

  • Performance-related bonus.
  • Medical, dental and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) matching plan.
  • Life insurance, as well as short-term and long-term disability insurance.
  • Employee assistance programs.
  • Paid time off (PTO).
  • Retirement options, where applicable.

What you will do

  • Support and maintain OT systems, including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, BAS/BMS, LIMS, LMS, and data historian platforms.
  • Ensure OT systems remain reliable, secure, and compliant within a regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
  • Maintain system architecture, asset inventories, configuration records, and technical documentation.
  • Manage validated backup and recovery processes, including restoration testing and disaster recovery activities.
  • Lead OT activities for equipment installations, upgrades, commissioning, and automation improvement projects.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, and IT teams to troubleshoot and resolve system issues.
  • Support cybersecurity, validation, and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational performance and data integrity.

What we are looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Automation, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting OT, automation, or manufacturing systems.
  • Experience working within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or other GMP-regulated environments preferred.
  • Knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, industrial automation, and system integration principles.
  • Familiarity with Computer System Validation (CSV), GAMP 5, and 21 CFR Part 11 requirements.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities.

Every day, Lonza’s products and services have a positive impact on millions of people. For us, this is not only a great privilege, but also a great responsibility. How we achieve our business results is just as important as the achievements themselves. At Lonza, we respect and protect our people and our environment. Any success we achieve is no success at all if not achieved ethically.

People come to Lonza for the challenge and creativity of solving complex problems and developing new ideas in life sciences. In return, we offer the satisfaction that comes with improving lives all around the world. The satisfaction that comes with making a meaningful difference.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
