Overview

As a Manufacturing Engineer at Lutron, you will contribute to high-stakes projects from the start. Your efforts will help to maintain our market position as the world leader in smart lighting and shading systems.

At Lutron, you’re hired for a career with limitless opportunity, not just a job. As a key member of our manufacturing and product development teams, you’ll help shape the next generation of high‑volume consumer products by applying DfM/DfA principles, designing efficient assembly processes, and supporting new products from prototype through full production. You’ll work side‑by‑side with product design, production, and tooling experts, gaining hands‑on experience, expanding your technical capabilities, and opening doors to future roles in engineering leadership, operations, product management, quality, and more.

There are a variety of technical areas throughout the product lifecycle that you could encounter from day one, such as:

  • Assembly process development and optimization, including time studies, production line balancing, and pareto/defect analysis
  • Development and effective documentation of standard work procedures and product manufacturing process notebooks
  • Specification of requirements for tooling and workstations
  • Application of Design for Manufacturing/Assembly (DfM and DfA) principles, and how to provide effective feedback to product design teams throughout design cycle
  • Project management skills, particularly as related to coordinating logistics and efforts between engineering, operations, and manufacturing plant
  • Industry standard techniques and best practices for manufacturing quality improvement, such as Six Sigma

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with product design, production plant, and tooling teams to design consumer products for high-volume manufacturability
  • Utilize Design for Manufacturing (DfM) and Design for Assembly (DfA) concepts to analyze new products
  • Execute assembly line design and process development to meet labor and quality goals
  • Support production of new products, from prototype builds through transfer to a long-term facility
  • Collect and analyze process quality data for presentation to key stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum, cumulative GPA of 3.00
  • 1 - 3 years’ experience in a related field
  • Process Failure Modes Effects Analysis (PFMEA) experience preferred
  • Willingness to travel – examples include overseeing manufacturing and supporting product transfer to long-term build facilities

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
