Business Controller - Magle Biopolymers
About Magle Biopolymers
Magle Biopolymers is part of the Magle Group - an international life science group with strong roots in dextran technology. We develop and manufacture advanced polymer-based materials used in medical products, contributing to improving patients’ lives.
As a CDMO entity within the group, Magle Biopolymers operates in a regulated environment with high quality requirements. Quality, accountability, and cross-functional collaboration are core elements of our daily work, and we continuously strive to improve our processes and solutions.
About the Position
In the newly established role of Business Controller, you will become part of the Biopolymers business unit, reporting directly to the CEO of Biopolymers with a functional line to the Group Finance Director. You will be the single source of financial truth for the business - building the cost model and controlling framework on top of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, which we implemented in August 2026, and making the financial consequences visible where operational and commercial decisions are taken. Bookkeeping and the monthly close are handled by our outsourced Accounting team, so your focus is on financial steering and business partnering. The position is based in Køge with regular presence at our site in Hårlev.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, validate and maintain the cost model and cost prices for Køge and Hårlev - meeting the requirements of the Danish Financial Statements Act (ÅRL §44) and usable for day-to-day cost control
- Deliver cost-per-unit visibility by product and customer and own variance analysis, making the cost of scrap, idle time and unused capacity explicit
- Own the annual budget, ongoing estimates and the long-term forecast in close dialogue with the CEO and function leads
- Hold overall responsibility for the monthly reporting to management, the Board and Group - complete, reconciled to the ledger and delivered on time
- Partner with operations, commercial, supply chain and quality managers through monthly follow-up, getting to the root causes of deviations together
- Establish production metrics and dashboards - scrap, downtime, yield and labour hours - that managers use in their daily steering
- Calculate and challenge business cases, pricing and improvement claims, and verify that savings show up in the P&L
- Act as counterpart to the external auditors on cost prices and inventory valuation
We Imagine That You
- Have an HD in accounting (HD-R), cand.merc.aud., cand.merc. or equivalent
- Have 4+ years of experience in controlling, including at least two as a plant, site or business-unit controller in manufacturing
- Have built a fully-loaded cost model or standard costing framework, and have a solid accounting foundation including knowledge of the Danish Financial Statements Act on cost prices and inventory valuation
- Are strong in Excel and can build cost and business-case models independently
- Can challenge senior leaders on evidence while keeping a good working relationship – you say what the number is, and it does not move under pressure
- Are as comfortable on the production floor as at the desk, and can explain cost to non-finance colleagues in a way that drives action
- Are curious about AI tools - experience with Claude is an advantage, but not a requirement
- Speak and write Danish and English fluently
- Ideally have experience from an audit firm, with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, from pharmaceutical, chemical or other process manufacturing (GMP), and with Power BI or similar tools
We Offer
- A newly established role with real influence on how the business is steered
- A professional and collaborative working environment, close to both management and production
- Canteen arrangement, an active Staff Club and health insurance.
Application
We invite candidates for interviews on an ongoing basis and encourage you to submit your application as soon as possible.
