Job Responsibilities:

General Job Duties:

  • Exhibit an objective, fair, and professional attitude consistent with the Magna Employee’s Charter and maintain a positive, productive workplace.
  • Demonstrate teamwork, sound judgment, problem solving, and a continuous-improvement mindset while following Decostar policies, safety rules, quality standards, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Perform cross-functional assignments as required and communicate effectively with technical teams, business partners, management, vendors, and other stakeholders.

Specific Job Duties:

  • Lead the design, development, testing, deployment, documentation, maintenance, and support of business-critical software applications, integrations, APIs, automation, and data solutions.
  • Translate business requirements into secure, scalable, supportable technical designs; document architecture decisions, data flows, interface contracts, dependencies, non-functional requirements, and implementation tradeoffs.
  • Establish, document, and lead a practical SDLC covering intake and prioritization, requirements, design, development, peer review, testing, release readiness, deployment, post-release validation, and ongoing support.
  • Create and govern change management controls, including approvals, segregation of duties, traceability, release notes, test evidence, implementation plans, rollback plans, and production change records.
  • Define development standards for source control, branching, code review, secure coding, automated testing, CI/CD, environment management, coding quality, and technical documentation.
  • Lead solution and code reviews, coach developers, coordinate delivery priorities, and ensure deviations from approved designs or standards are documented, risk-assessed, and remediated.
  • Design and maintain relational database solutions, including schemas, stored procedures, functions, views, indexes, data models, ETL processes, and application-to-database integrations.
  • Apply DBA logic to database provisioning, configuration, security, access control, patching, upgrades, performance tuning, capacity planning, monitoring, backup and recovery, replication, high availability, and disaster recovery.
  • Govern database and schema changes across environments; coordinate deployments, validate recoverability, investigate performance or data-integrity issues, and maintain database inventories, runbooks, and recovery procedures.
  • Implement data quality, reconciliation, lineage, retention, auditability, and access controls that protect the accuracy, consistency, availability, and security of enterprise data.
  • Partner with Security, Infrastructure/Operations, QA, Enterprise Architecture, business owners, data owners, and vendors to align application delivery with operational, compliance, and business requirements.
  • Lead root-cause analysis for application, database, integration, and release incidents; implement corrective actions and improve engineering practices based on production performance and lessons learned.
  • Develop and report meaningful delivery and reliability measures such as cycle time, defect leakage, test results, change failure rate, rollback rate, availability, backup success, capacity, and recovery results.
  • Provide technical leadership for modernization, application rationalization, cloud or managed-platform adoption, and the reduction of technical debt and operational risk.
  • Provide occasional on-call or escalation support for critical application, integration, database, or deployment issues.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Advanced application programming knowledge in one or more enterprise development languages and strong proficiency with SQL; Python, C#, .NET, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, or comparable languages preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of software architecture, APIs, integrations, object-oriented design, source control, code review, automated testing, CI/CD, and secure development practices.
  • Strong working knowledge of relational database administration and engineering, including data modeling, query optimization, indexing, security, backup and recovery, high availability, monitoring, and controlled schema deployment.
  • Demonstrated ability to create, lead, and continuously improve SDLC, release governance, and IT change management processes in an auditable operating environment.
  • Knowledge of Agile and hybrid delivery approaches and their integration with formal architecture, quality, release, and change controls.
  • Ability to lead technical reviews, mentor team members, manage multiple priorities, communicate tradeoffs clearly, and convert business needs into measurable technical outcomes.
  • Working knowledge of reporting, analytics, ETL, data governance, cloud platforms, and manufacturing or enterprise application environments is preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in software development, application delivery, database engineering/administration, systems integration, or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated senior-level experience leading technical designs, complex application changes, database solutions, production releases, and cross-functional delivery activities.
  • Experience establishing or governing SDLC and change management practices, including requirements traceability, testing evidence, approvals, deployment readiness, rollback planning, and post-release support.
  • Experience supporting business-critical applications and databases in environments where availability, security, data integrity, auditability, and recovery are essential.

Education:

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
