Job Responsibilities:

Senior Software Engineer Robotics

The role also includes validating and maintaining existing AMR systems, supporting factory deployments, performing robot mapping and site commissioning, troubleshooting software issues, and collaborating with internal teams, suppliers, and customers to deliver robust industrial robotics solutions. Domestic and international travel is required to support customer deployments, system integration, commissioning, and onsite debugging activities.

What you will do in this role:

  • Design, develop, and maintain robotics software for Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs), Fleet Management Systems, and related applications.
  • Develop software for robot navigation, localization, path planning, robot control, traffic management, fleet coordination, and mission execution.
  • Design and optimize algorithms for multi-robot coordination, mission scheduling, route optimization, collision avoidance, and autonomous robot operation.
  • Develop modular software components and optimize communication and data flow between robotics software modules.
  • Integrate robotics software with Fleet Management Systems (FMS), PLCs, industrial communication protocols, and third-party systems.
  • Develop internal software tools for robot configuration, deployment, monitoring, diagnostics, testing, and debugging.
  • Validate robotics software through simulation, laboratory testing, and production environments while tracking, analyzing, and resolving software issues.
  • Perform robot mapping, localization tuning, system commissioning, and onsite deployment at customer manufacturing facilities.
  • Support existing AMR systems by investigating software issues, performing root cause analysis, implementing fixes, and improving system stability and performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, suppliers, and customers to support product development, factory deployment, and continuous system improvements.
  • Provide onsite technical support for domestic and international customer deployments, factory integration, commissioning, validation, and troubleshooting.

What you should bring to this role:

  • Master's or higher degree in Engineering including but not limited to: Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, Aerospace, and Robotics. Automotive OEM or Tier-1 experience preferred.
  • Proven experience in robotics software engineering with knowledge of robot navigation, localization, robot control, traffic management, fleet coordination, and industrial automation.
  • Experience developing, integrating, validating, deploying, and debugging robotics software in production or customer environments.
  • Hands-on experience with AMRs, robotics platforms, industrial automation systems, sensors, actuators, and communication networks.
  • Experience performing robot deployment, mapping, commissioning, system validation, and onsite customer support.
  • Experience investigating software issues and working with cross-functional teams and suppliers to resolve technical problems.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Strong understanding of robotics algorithms including traffic management, fleet coordination, path planning, navigation, localization, and obstacle avoidance.
  • Experience with multi-robot systems, fleet management software, and industrial robotics applications.
  • Strong C/C++, Python programming skills
  • Experience with Linux, multi-threaded software development, and real-time systems.
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as MQTT, DDS, TCP/IP, Ethernet, CAN, REST API, and VDA5050.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

  • Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus
  • Hybrid in-office policy: 3 days in office per week, but will be needed to work up to 100% in office as the work requires.
  • Domestic and international travel up to ~10%.

Hiring Base Salary Range: $85,670 - $159,110 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data). In addition to base salary, some positions are eligible for an annual performance based bonus.
