The posting

We are seeking an experienced Senior System Engineer to join our team. In this senior role, the engineer will lead system provisioning, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance efforts to ensure stable, optimized operations. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in Linux systems administration and configuration management and will also provide mentorship to junior team members while contributing to the documentation and development of best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

The Senior System Operations Engineer will take ownership of provisioning and configuring Linux-based systems across various server roles, including edge servers and application-specific servers. They will ensure consistent and compliant system configurations, leveraging tools such as Rudder to automate and standardize setups across environments. Additionally, they will play a key role in creating and maintaining documentation for these processes, building a knowledge base that supports team-wide efficiency and scalability.

A primary responsibility in this role is establishing and refining monitoring and observability practices. The engineer will oversee and optimize monitoring platforms (e.g., Zabbix) to track system metrics, set up alerting, and quickly identify and address performance issues. They will also conduct regular system maintenance tasks—such as updates, patches, and performance tuning—ensuring high availability and system efficiency.

As a senior engineer, this role includes mentoring junior team members, guiding them through troubleshooting processes, and sharing best practices to elevate the team’s collective expertise. The engineer will collaborate on capacity planning, working to align infrastructure resources with current demands and projected growth. This role also involves managing storage and networking configurations, using open-source solutions like Ceph for storage and tools like FRR for network routing, to maintain high data throughput and system reliability.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 10+ years of experience in a System Operations or related role, with a strong background in high-demand industries such as broadcast, media, or digital video.
  • Advanced expertise in Linux administration, with hands-on experience provisioning, configuring, and optimizing Linux-based systems.
  • Deep knowledge of configuration management tools like Rudder, Chef, or Puppet, with experience enforcing configuration standards and maintaining consistency across environments.
  • Proficiency in managing and fine-tuning monitoring tools (e.g., Zabbix, Prometheus) to track performance metrics, create alerting mechanisms, and optimize system observability.
  • Extensive experience conducting regular maintenance, applying patches, troubleshooting performance issues, and tuning systems to maximize efficiency and uptime.
  • Strong skills in mentoring junior engineers, sharing best practices, and documenting processes and procedures to build a robust knowledge base for the team.
  • Familiarity with open-source storage technologies (e.g., Ceph, ZFS) and network routing tools like FRR and Quagga to manage data flow and ensure high system reliability.
  • Proven experience in capacity planning and scaling strategies to support both current and anticipated demand across infrastructures.
  • Advanced scripting skills (e.g., Bash, Python) to automate system tasks and enhance configuration management workflows.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with or exposure to CDN infrastructures.
  • Exposure to edge computing and real-time system demands.

What we offer:

  • A young, dynamic and entrepreneurial environment where to develop and growth.
  • An innovative technology and service able to support the transition from traditional broadcasting to the streaming entertainment of the future.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
