The posting

Makerble is cloud-based software that enables charities to change the world, faster. Working directly with our founder, you will support business development by identifying nonprofit organisations that would benefit from using our software. Our founder will then contact the nonprofits you identify to arrange meetings and demos. You will have the opportunity to attend some of these meetings and learn how to close deals.

This role is designed for someone who is curious, thorough and persistent. If you have good attention to detail, a strong desire to make the world a better place and the ambition to help a startup accelerate its growth globally, this role is for.

Although every charity, non-profit and social enterprise exists to create a positive impact in the world, most charitable organisations use old-fashioned systems to manage their work and measure their impact. Many charitable organisations still rely on paper forms and waste time doing manual data entry into spreadsheets.

Makerble brings charities into the 21st Century by modernising the way they work. Our software has CRM, Surveys and Data Analysis modules. It is used by charitable organisations operating internationally (e.g. Justice Defenders), nationally (e.g. Trussell Trust) and locally (e.g. Advance Brighter Futures). What these organisations have in common is the need to quickly create reports and dashboards that visualise the difference their work makes to people's lives. This is what Makerble makes possible.

You will be expected to use your own laptop in this role.

Responsibilities:

Marketing

  • Writing social media posts
  • Writing blog articles
  • Writing pages for our website
  • Writing marketing emails
  • Writing copy for adverts - e.g. Google Search Ads
  • Optimising the performance of adverts from an SEO perspective

Business Development

  • Identifying potential customers whom we can reach out to - using online research methods (e.g. Google Search and generative AI) and directories of charitable organisations such as the UK Charity Commission website.
  • Using CRM tools like HubSpot to help organise our business development activity
  • Drafting sales emails and follow-up emails that can be sent to people automatically before and after meetings they have with the founder
  • Setting up messaging automations using tools like DuxSoup and LinkedIn Sales Navigator
  • Analysing the effectiveness of our business development activity and suggesting ways it can be optimised
  • Identifying the LinkedIn profiles and other relevant digital content relating to the key decision-makers within the nonprofits we are targeting

General: contributing to the smooth running of a small growing tech startup

  • Competitor analysis
  • Getting involved in other projects and opportunities to develop your skills

This role is initially a 3-6 month post with a minimum commitment of 15 hours a week, with scope to increase that to 40 hours a week depending on your availability. As a startup we are constantly learning and looking for opportunities to grow. Whilst we cannot guarantee a permanent role for you at the end of the internship, if you succeed in your role it is likely that we will extend the position into a longer-term contract.

Person Specification:

  • We expect you to use your own laptop or computer (not a tablet) for work purposes.
  • Excellent written English
  • Excellent spoken English
  • Demonstrable interest in making the world a better place for vulnerable people in society, e.g. through volunteering

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.

Do you really apply for me?

Yes, on the employer's own form, the hardest ones included. Where a question needs you, you answer it right there and AI suggests the best answer. Don't want us applying from our IP addresses? Use our Chrome extension: we apply straight from your own browser.

Is it a subscription?

No. You pay once per CV, from $25. Every application goes out with its own CV, written for that posting.
