Job description

About MARI Group MARI is a global events and experiences company powering world-defining live experiences. Our portfolio of premium live properties spans sports, art, and entertainment — including the Madrid and Miami Open tennis tournaments, Frieze (a leading voice in contemporary art), and Barrett-Jackson (the premium U.S. collector car auction company). MARI also includes TodayTix Group, the global e-commerce leader for cultural experiences, connecting millions of customers with the best in live entertainment.

MARI is reshaping the live events landscape — building a growing portfolio of category-defining events and brands that set the standard for what's next, across sports, entertainment, art, and lifestyle.

At MARI, you'll work alongside people who are passionate, curious, and driven — people who believe that live experiences have the power to shape culture, and who care about the work, the mission, and each other. We welcome outstanding applicants of all backgrounds and encourage everyone to apply.

About the Role We are seeking a strategic, operationally disciplined VP, FP&A to lead the planning and performance engine at MARI. This is a senior finance leadership role at the heart of MARI’s growth across sports, art and entertainment. You’ll sit within Finance, reporting to the SVP of Finance, and work closely with the corporate finance teams and the finance directors across each business unit.

As the owner of how MARI plans, forecasts and reports, you’ll set the cadence, metrics and standards that give leadership a clear, current and trusted view of performance across a diverse portfolio. You’ll be a trusted advisor to the CFO and SVP, building a deep understanding of what drives each business and turning results into clear takeaways: what is moving, what could go wrong, where the upside is, and what to do about it. This is a high-impact, cross-functional position for a builder who pairs analytical rigor with operational discipline and sound business judgment. If you’re energized by live events, culture, and sport — and you’ve led FP&A for a PE-backed or multi-portfolio business — this role was built for you.

This is a full-time role and qualified candidates must be based in New York. You’ll be part of a hybrid team that values both connection and flexibility. We’ll cover the details of our hybrid schedule during the interview process.

The base salary range for this role is $225k - $240k, and the role is bonus eligible, with total compensation of $280k - $305k. Salary is determined by market data, experience, location, and internal banding. Ranges will be discussed transparently during the interview process.

What Success Looks Like:

  • A trusted, current view of performance → leadership can see how each month, quarter and the full year will land, with a fast, reliable flash at every close and no surprises.
  • A planning and reporting framework that runs itself → a predictable calendar, consistent KPIs and one standard set of numbers across every business, with clear owners and on-time delivery.
  • Insight leadership relies on → variances explained with their drivers and outlook, and risks and opportunities flagged early, so decisions happen ahead of the numbers.
  • Aligned business partners → finance leaders across every business working to common standards, with trusted, consistent engagement between FP&A and each business.
  • A foundation that scales → a high-performing team and processes that absorb growth and newly acquired businesses without losing speed or accuracy.

What You’ll Own:

  • Planning and forecasting: Lead the annual budget, rolling forecasts and long-range plan, and own the methodology and cadence that give leadership an accurate, current view of where the business will land
  • Performance reporting: Own the management reporting suite, from the quarter-end flash to monthly and quarterly packages, delivered accurately, consistently and leadership-ready on a reliable calendar
  • Insight and decision support: Explain what is driving results across the portfolio, partner with business leaders to surface risks and opportunities early, and bring forward-looking recommendations, not just retrospective analysis
  • Metrics and standards: Define, standardize and govern the KPIs, templates and reporting standards that make businesses comparable, while leaving room for the operating metrics unique to each business
  • Operating rhythm: Run the finance operating calendar across planning, close and reporting, communicating timelines, priorities and risks proactively to senior leadership and the broader finance team
  • Business partnership: Build trusted relationships with the finance leaders and operators in each business, aligning them to a common approach while respecting what makes each business different
  • Systems and automation: Improve planning and reporting tools, data quality and automation, including AI-enabled workflows for forecasting, variance analysis and reporting
  • Team and growth: Lead, coach and develop the FP&A team, and build the capacity to onboard newly acquired businesses onto MARI’s planning and reporting standards

What You Bring:

  • 10+ years of progressive FP&A experience, including leading teams and owning a corporate or multi-business FP&A function
  • Experience in PE-backed or multi-portfolio environments, reporting across businesses with different models and drivers
  • A track record of designing and running planning, forecasting and reporting cadences, with measurable gains in speed, accuracy and visibility
  • Strong business acumen: you understand what drives results, explain variances clearly and anticipate leadership’s questions
  • Exceptional financial modeling and analytical skills, and the ability to distill complex data into clear, actionable takeaways
  • Executive presence: comfortable briefing CFOs and senior leaders and leading through influence across finance and business partners
  • A hands-on, low-ego leader who rolls up their sleeves while building a team, with the confidence to push back
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field

Preferred:

  • Experience supporting M&A and integrating acquired businesses into planning and reporting
  • Experience in live events, sports, entertainment, media, consumer or marketplace businesses
  • Fluency with ERP, BI and planning tools, and enthusiasm for AI and automation (SAP S/4HANA a plus)
  • MBA, CPA or CFA
  • Passion for live events, sports, art, or entertainment

Benefits Here are some of the Benefits and Perks offered at MARI Group:

  • BU/team/location dependent) Hybrid work environment (blend of in-office and at-home days)
  • Healthcare, vision, and dental plans with contributions from the company
  • Life and disability insurance

  • Enhanced gyms, wellness and financial wellbeing apps access via Wellhub

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
