Company:

Marsh

Description:

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Select Risk Solutions team, part of Marsh Risk, to focus on the servicing and support of Japanese companies operating in the US. This role will be based in Kansas City and is a full-time on-site role.

Marsh is seeking an accomplished Japanese-bilingual Account Manager to join our Kansas City team. This is an exciting opportunity to support Japanese-owned companies and multinational clients as they navigate complex insurance and risk challenges in the United States and globally.

In this role, you will combine insurance expertise, commercial insight, and cross-cultural communication skills to deliver thoughtful risk solutions and an exceptional client experience. You will serve as a trusted partner to clients, Japanese parent companies, local leadership teams, carriers, and internal Marsh specialists.

If you are energized by working across cultures, building meaningful relationships, and helping businesses make confident decisions in a changing risk landscape, we would like to meet you.

We will count on you to:

  • Use risk and industry expertise to design and implement placement solutions that align with client needs and commercial objectives, including the needs of Japanese-owned and multinational clients.
  • Prepare and submit coverage specifications and obtain carrier quotes under the “assist, advise, and assume” transaction model.
  • Bind coverage and maintain accurate placement binders, exhibits, and contract documentation to high standards of procedural compliance.
  • Contribute to pricing strategy development and go-to-market approaches to support competitive placement outcomes.
  • Interface with client executives, advisors, underwriters, and internal teams in both Japanese and English to support client retention, new business development, and responsive service delivery.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with practice groups, insurance markets, carriers, underwriters, and Japanese-speaking client stakeholders to enhance market access and collaboration.
  • Monitor and interpret market practices, pricing trends, and underwriting policies; translate insights into placement strategies and client advisories for both U.S. and Japanese stakeholders.
  • Help bridge communication and business practices between Japanese parent companies, local U.S. operations, and Marsh teams to support effective decision-making and service delivery.
  • Oversee account and project management activities—including timely renewals, data accuracy, contract execution, and cross-border coordination—and ensure all work adheres to regulatory, professional, and internal compliance standards.

What you need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Insurance, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field.
  • 2–4 years of experience in insurance brokerage, commercial insurance placement, risk management, or a related field.
  • Professional fluency in Japanese and English, including the ability to communicate with business leaders, explain complex insurance concepts, and prepare or review business communications in both languages.
  • Experience supporting commercial insurance programs involving Property, Casualty, FINPRO, or related lines.
  • Experience managing client accounts, renewals, placements, or complex insurance projects.
  • Knowledge of insurance markets, underwriting practices, risk assessment, and coverage structures.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data and market insights to inform recommendations.
  • Excellent relationship-building, communication, organization, and presentation skills.
  • The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain required licenses and certifications, including a Property & Casualty license.
  • Preferably knowledge and awareness of the Japanese insurance companies operating in the US.

What makes you stand out:

  • Experience working with Japanese-owned companies, multinational organizations, or global insurance programs.
  • Experience partnering with Japanese parent companies, expatriate leadership teams, or Japan-based risk and finance stakeholders.
  • A strong understanding of Japanese business culture and cross-border communication.
  • Existing U.S. insurance broker licenses or relevant professional certifications.
  • Experience with multinational placements, controlled master programs, global coordination, or international risk management.
  • The ability to translate technical insurance information into clear, practical business recommendations.
  • A consultative mindset and genuine interest in helping clients succeed across markets and cultures.

Why join our team:

  • We help you be your best through professional development opportunities, interesting work and supportive leaders.
  • We foster a vibrant and inclusive culture where you can work with talented colleagues to create new solutions and have an impact on colleagues, clients and communities.
  • Our scale enables us to provide a range of career opportunities, as well as benefits and rewards to enhance your well-being.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
