This role focuses on reliability, observability, automation, release management, and operational excellence across business-critical services. Are you passionate about understanding complex systems, automating repetitive work, and improving platform reliability? Do you thrive at the intersection of software engineering and operations? Business Operations plays a critical role in Mastercard's DevOps and SRE transformation by partnering with engineering teams to improve operational readiness, automate processes, and ensure platforms meet the highest standards of availability, performance, security, and scalability. Successful candidates are curious, collaborative, and committed to continuous improvement while balancing production support with strategic engineering initiatives.

Role Business Operations serves as the operational excellence and production readiness steward for the platforms we support. We partner closely with software engineering teams to design, implement, operate, and continuously improve technology services. As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will ensure operational requirements including availability, resiliency, performance, observability, security, capacity management, and deployment automation are incorporated throughout the software lifecycle. This role bridges engineering and operations by supporting production services, managing operational risk, driving automation, participating in releases, and improving platform reliability through proactive engineering and continuous improvement.

Position Qualifications • Experience administering enterprise platforms in production environments, including upgrades, patching, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and operational support. • Experience with CMDB, discovery, asset management, inventory management, or related enterprise technologies. • Strong Linux/Unix administration skills; working knowledge of Windows administration and authentication technologies including Active Directory, LDAP, SSH, and service accounts. • Experience supporting software releases, production changes, and operational readiness activities. • Strong scripting and automation skills using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar technologies. • Experience with APIs, integrations, workflow automation, and orchestration technologies. • Understanding of monitoring, observability, alerting, and operational health management. • Experience troubleshooting distributed systems across infrastructure, application, network, and integration layers. • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills. • Ability to manage operational responsibilities while driving strategic automation and platform improvements. • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. • Ability to effectively manage and resolve high-severity production incidents.

Responsibilities • Support the full service lifecycle from design and implementation through deployment, operation, and optimization. • Serve as an operational owner for critical enterprise platforms, ensuring reliability, availability, performance, and scalability. • Support production readiness reviews, launch assessments, capacity planning, and operational validation. • Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot services in production environments. • Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and implementation of long-term corrective actions. • Drive automation initiatives that reduce operational toil and improve platform stability. • Support releases and deployments while ensuring production readiness and operational excellence. • Perform operating system maintenance, patching, vulnerability remediation, and lifecycle management. • Analyze operational data and ITSM activities to identify resiliency improvements and operational risks. • Collaborate with globally distributed teams across multiple regions and time zones. • Maintain operational documentation and contribute to knowledge sharing and mentoring efforts.

Platform Engineering & Automation Engineers supporting platform engineering and automation may also: • Design and maintain deployment automation and infrastructure management solutions. • Support CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices. • Develop tools, integrations, and automation that improve reliability, efficiency, and scalability. • Enhance platform visibility, operational effectiveness, and customer experience. • Evaluate emerging technologies and identify modernization opportunities. • Partner with engineering teams to improve deployment reliability and reduce operational risk.

Additional Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent experience. • Experience with software engineering principles, automation, scripting, pipeline management, and system design. • Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and systematic problem-solving. • Experience debugging, optimizing, and automating complex technical environments. • Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively with multiple stakeholders. • Experience in one or more programming languages such as Python, Java, Go, C++, Ruby, or similar. • Knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering principles, DevOps practices, observability, automation-first operations, and continuous improvement. • Experience working across development, operations, product, and infrastructure teams. • Familiarity with source control systems, CI/CD platforms, artifact repositories, and infrastructure automation technologies. • Demonstrated passion for innovation, automation, operational excellence, and continuous learning.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
