About This Role

A growing engineering and architecture firm is seeking an experienced Managing Principal to lead a dynamic site-civil division. In this leadership position, you'll oversee all aspects of municipal infrastructure projects—from design through construction and administration. You'll manage a team of six engineers and play a key role in guiding the firm's direction in the municipal sector.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and Manage Projects: Serve as Principal-in-Charge and Project Manager on municipal projects including fire stations, police stations, public libraries, city halls, courthouses, community centers, and aquatic facilities
  • Team Leadership: Hire, train, mentor, and supervise a team of six direct reports
  • Project Oversight: Manage all phases of project delivery—budgeting, scheduling, planning, design documentation, and construction administration
  • Financial Management: Oversee project finances, budgeting, and contract negotiations
  • Client Relations: Build and maintain strong client relationships; ensure project success through quality work, collaboration, and profitability
  • Scope Control: Define, monitor, and control project scope, schedules, and deliverables
  • Design Integration: Supervise the integration of design and technical aspects of each project
  • Project Closeouts: Oversee final project phases and ensure all contractual requirements are met
  • Business Development: Cultivate existing relationships and actively pursue new opportunities in the municipal sector

Required Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Kentucky
  • Proven experience in site-civil design and project management
  • Proficiency with Civil 3D for design and production
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring experience managing technical teams
  • Strong knowledge of project budgeting, scheduling, and contract administration
  • Experience managing projects in the education, commercial, and/or municipal sectors
  • Excellent communication and client presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Established professional relationships within Kentucky
  • Experience with public pools and waterpark design
  • Advanced knowledge of construction documentation and construction administration
  • Familiarity with managing high-value projects ($5M–$10M+)

What We Offer

  • Time Off: 3 weeks PTO plus one week between Christmas and New Year's Day (negotiable)
  • Retirement: 401(k) with 4% employer match
  • Health & Wellness: Life insurance, short- and long-term disability coverage, discounted gym membership
  • Professional Development: Tuition reimbursement

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
