The Opportunity McElhanney is seeking a motivated and adaptable Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Engineering Technologist pursuing a Professional Technologist (P.Tech.) designation to join our Calgary team. In this role, you'll support the delivery of infrastructure construction projects through design, tendering, construction administration, and field services while gaining exposure to all stages of the project lifecycle. With approximately 60% field work and 40% office work, this position offers a balanced mix of hands-on construction experience and technical project work. You'll collaborate with experienced engineers, technologists, and project managers while building the skills needed to advance your career in technical design, project delivery, and future project management.  Travel Requirements: Candidates must be willing to travel as required, and work in a remote setting for shifts of up to two weeks away from home. What You’ll Do

Support the delivery of infrastructure construction projects through planning, design, tendering, construction, and closeout.  Assist with engineering design, drafting, technical documentation, cost estimates, and tender preparation.  Perform field inspections, construction monitoring, materials testing, and contract administration activities.  Prepare technical reports, field records, and project correspondence while supporting project documentation requirements.  Collaborate with project managers, engineers, technologists, contractors, and clients to help deliver successful project outcomes.  Contribute to project coordination and gain exposure to scheduling, budgeting, and overall project delivery.  Travel to project sites, including remote locations for shifts of up to two weeks.

What You’ll Bring

Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.  Registered as an Engineer-in-Training, eligible for EIT registration, or actively pursuing a Professional Technologist (P.Tech.) designation in Alberta.  1 to 5 years of relevant experience in transportation, municipal, or civil infrastructure projects, including road construction and materials testing.  Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in both field and office environments.  Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.  Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar design software is considered an asset.  Valid Class 5 driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.

What Can We Offer You? The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $100,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
