About the Team

When 5% of Indian households shop with us, it’s important to build resilient systems to manage millions of orders every day. We’ve done this – with zero downtime!Sounds impossible? Well, that’s the kind of Engineering muscle that has helped Meesho become the e-commerce giant that it is today. We value speed over perfection, and see failures as opportunities to become better. We’ve taken steps to inculcate a strong ‘Founder’s Mindset’ across our engineering teams, making us grow and move fast. We place special emphasis on the continuous growth of each team member - and we do this with regular 1-1s and open communication. As Engineering Manager, you will be part of self-starters who thrive on teamwork and constructive feedback. We know how to party as hard as we work! If we aren’t building unparalleled tech solutions, you can find us debating the plot points of our favourite books and games – or even gossiping over chai. So, if a day filled with building impactful solutions with a fun team sounds appealing to you, join us.

About the Role

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the Platform Team at Meesho. In this role, you will be responsible for building and growing a high-impact platform engineering team, owning the technical roadmap, and delivering a unified database platform used by hundreds of engineers across Meesho. This is not a pure operations role rather a platform engineering leadership role that blends system design, automation, developer experience, and reliability.

You will work closely with Backend, Data, Infra, and SRE teams to ensure Meesho’s database ecosystem scales reliably while remaining easy to use and cost-efficient.

What You Will Do

  • Lead and grow a team of engineers building Meesho’s Database Platform
  • Own the platform roadmap for database provisioning, scaling, upgrades, client side interaction with DBs, observability, automation and modernising the overall database landscape
  • Drive the shift from manual operations to self-service and intent-based workflows
  • Partner with product and engineering teams to understand requirements and translate them into platform capabilities
  • Ensure high standards of reliability, availability, security, and performance across database systems
  • Establish strong engineering practices around design reviews, code quality, and operational excellence
  • Mentor engineers, conduct regular 1:1s, and build a culture of ownership and continuous learning
  • Collaborate with SRE and Infra teams and leverage AI to reduce toil and improve incident resilience

What You Will Need

  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with 1+ years in an engineering management role
  • Strong background in platform, backend or infrastructure engineering
  • Experience building backend systems in Java and/or Python
  • Hands-on understanding of relational and/or NoSQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, Scylla, Elastic, etc.)
  • Solid grasp of distributed systems, scalability, high availability, and fault tolerance
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS or GCP)
  • Ability to drive execution via OKRs, sprint planning, and prioritisation
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work across multiple teams

Good to Have

  • Experience with database automation, provisioning systems, or internal developer platforms
  • Exposure to Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD, or Infrastructure as Code
  • Experience working with high-scale, high-traffic production systems
  • Interest in cost optimisation and performance engineering
  • Prior experience working closely with SRE or Infra teams
  • Exposure with data pipelines and messaging systems (kafka)

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
