BOOKKEEPER

Department: Accounting / Administration | Reports To: Owners | Full-Time

POSITION SUMMARY

The Bookkeeper is responsible for overseeing daily accounting functions, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring the efficient operation of the company’s business office. This position requires a highly organized, detail-oriented, and dependable individual who can manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with company policies. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong accounting knowledge, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to effective internal controls.

ACCOUNTING & BOOKKEEPING

  • Maintain accurate and current financial records; record and reconcile daily transactions.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, general ledger accounts, and supporting schedules.
  • Monitor accounts payable and receivable; prepare and process approved vendor payments.
  • Review invoices, statements, and documentation; research and resolve discrepancies.
  • Prepare authorized journal entries and adjustments; assist with monthly and year-end close.
  • Maintain organized supporting records and assist the Owners with reporting and special projects.
  • Follow established accounting procedures and internal controls; protect company assets and confidential information.
  • Verify appropriate documentation and authorization of transactions.
  • Monitor unresolved accounting items and assist with audits and compliance reviews.
  • Promptly report irregularities, errors, or potential financial risks.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Three or more years of bookkeeping or accounting experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and accounting software; Sage experience is a plus.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, manage competing priorities, and maintain integrity and confidentiality.

  • Timeliness: Complete daily, weekly, and monthly tasks by established deadlines.
  • Reconciliations: Keep assigned accounts current and resolve discrepancies promptly.

  • Compliance: Follow established policies and internal controls.
