JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Re-entry Assistant provides support for all re-entry initiatives and provides guidance to students and participants, directing them to appropriate services and support, as needed. This position supports re-entry functions with answering the mainline, filing, typing, scheduling, photocopying, distributing mail, and assisting with Re-entry Center maintenance and upkeep.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs duties to include answering telephone; greeting visitors and directing to appropriate areas and answering general 180 Re-entry Assistance Program questions.
  • Maintains welcoming environment including building upkeep; assists with work orders.
  • Distributes daily mail and updates bulletin boards weekly.
  • Tracks communication from incarcerated population and maintains enrollment interest lists.
  • Assists with pantry maintenance and general duties.
  • Provides paper and electronic file updates including case noting and release verifications.
  • Supports Computer Center activities with internet access support and monitoring usage.
  • Provides support with basic needs acquisition to include public assistance applications, supportive documentation and transportation needs.
  • Inputs noncredit worksheet data into online system, creates flyers and types forms.
  • Assists with quarterly processes including enrollment, grade reporting and mailings.
  • Participates in various events including, but not limited to: departmental meetings, completion ceremonies, and student appreciation events.
  • Consistently and dependably attends work, activities, and functions as scheduled or assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The schedule is Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm

This is an on-premise position located on the Fort Omaha Campus

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to use general office equipment including, but not limited to, telephone, computer, copier and scanner.
  • Strong multi-tasking and problem-solving skills while working with a variety of personalities on a daily basis.
  • Ability to communicate, effectively work and interact with a diverse population, various cultures and ethnicities.
  • Skilled in maintaining accurate files and records while paying close attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment and, at times, with limited supervision.
  • Knowledge and compliance of FERPA laws regarding confidentiality.
  • Ability to maintain a cooperative, professional demeanor in stressful situations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two (2) years of work-related experience.
  • Equivalent combination of education and/or work experience considered.
  • Must pass a background check.
