Overview

We are looking for a Principal Product Manager to set the technical and product direction for the Copilot Offline Evaluation Platform. The platform is a critical component of Microsoft's broader Copilot Evaluation ecosystem. It rigorously assesses the quality and reliability of Copilot experiences before they reach production. Teams use it to run controlled evaluations with synthetic or curated datasets across non-production tenants, simulating real-world scenarios to validate feature performance, detect regressions and establish quality baselines.

As a Principal Product Manager, you will own the end-to-end technical and product strategy of the offline evaluation platform. This covers how evaluation datasets are generated and curated, how realistic test environments are built, how evaluations run at scale, and how results become ship decisions for product experiences. While not a manager position, this is nevertheless a leadership role. You will lead through the clarity of your thinking, technical and product depth, and with hands-on work directly within the systems. You will also be a role model and mentor for the PMs and engineers on the team.

Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.

Responsibilities

  • Define the strategic roadmap for our platform initiatives, aligning them with the overall business and product goals.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and prioritize key platform features and enhancements
  • Define project scopes, goals, and deliverables, and ensure they are effectively communicated to the team members and stakeholders.
  • Drive the execution of multiple complex projects simultaneously, while ensuring adherence to quality standards and timelines.
  • Work closely with engineering, data science, and product teams to define technical requirements and ensure alignment between platform capabilities and business needs.
  • Serve as a point of contact for internal stakeholders, addressing their concerns, providing regular updates, and managing expectations.
  • Demonstrate deep technical knowledge and understanding of the platform, algorithms, and infrastructure needed for the product.

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 10+ years experience in product/service/program management or software developmentOR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 15+ years experience in product/service/program management or software developmentOR equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years experience taking a product, feature, or experience to market (e.g., design, addressing product market fit, and launch, internal tool/framework).
  • 8+ years experience improving product metrics for a product, feature, or experience in a market (e.g., growing customer base, expanding customer usage, avoiding customer churn).
  • 8+ years experience disrupting a market for a product, feature, or experience (e.g., competitive disruption, taking the place of an established competing product).
  • Experience leading product design and technical strategy for software or service products.
  • Shipped large-scale enterprise software or cloud services, including platform architecture used by many internal or external teams.
  • Hands-on experience with AI/ML evaluation: metric design, model-based judging, dataset curation and synthetic data, offline and online experimentation, and responsible AI practices.
  • Experience with test and data infrastructure at scale, such as test environments, data pipelines, telemetry and results analytics.
  • Proven ability to lead through influence across organizational boundaries, build lasting and trusted relationships with partner teams, and bring clarity to shared goals and dependencies.
  • Ability to innovate at the platform level and carry integrated, end-to-end solutions through to shipping.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
