Your Role:

As an Accounts and Payroll Officer, you will:

  • End-to-End Payroll Processing: Execute weekly and fortnightly payroll runs, calculating timesheets, allowances, overtime, and leave entitlements with high accuracy.
  • Statutory Compliance & Reporting: Calculate and process PAYG withholding, state Payroll Tax returns, Superannuation Guarantee contributions, and year-end Single Touch Payroll (STP) reconciliations.
  • Employee Data & Inbox Administration: Manage the central payroll inbox, respond to pay queries, update employee banking/tax records, and process salary deductions.
  • Award & Enterprise Agreement Interpretation: Apply relevant industrial awards, Enterprise Agreements (EBAs), and workplace conditions to ensure compliant pay rates and allowance calculations.
  • ERP Maintenance & Reconciliation: Maintain employee master data in Pronto ERP, reconcile payroll clearing accounts, and execute month-end payroll journal entries.
  • Year-End & Audit Support: Assist the Senior Accounts & Payroll Officer with financial year-end reporting, audit documentation, and payroll process optimizations.

What You Need:

Non-negotiables

  • Proven Payroll Officer Experience: Solid track record processing high-volume end-to-end payroll within a medium-to-large organization.
  • Pronto ERP Proficiency: Direct hands-on experience utilizing Pronto Xi software for payroll processing and employee master data administration.
  • Award & Enterprise Agreement Interpretation: Demonstrated capability to interpret and apply complex Australian Modern Awards, Enterprise Agreements (EBAs), and statutory pay conditions.
  • Statutory & Superannuation Compliance: Strong working knowledge of PAYG withholding tax rules, state-based Payroll Tax, Superannuation Guarantee guidelines, and STP reporting.
  • Advanced MS Excel & Data Accuracy: High proficiency in MS Excel for data reconciliation, timesheet auditing, and reporting, combined with strict attention to detail.

Preferred skills/expertise

  • Prior payroll experience within the mining, resources, heavy engineering, or construction sectors.
  • Formal qualifications in Accounting, Bookkeeping, or Payroll Administration (e.g., Certificate IV in Payroll or Accounting).
  • Strong interpersonal skills to resolve pay disputes and communicate policy guidelines clearly across operational teams.
