Job Description

  • Provide legal advice and support to the Head of Legal and internal stakeholders on corporate, commercial, contractual, and regulatory matters
  • Draft, review, and support the negotiation of contracts, agreements, and other legal documents
  • Review assigned legal matters and identify potential contractual, legal, and compliance risks
  • Conduct legal research and provide recommendations on applicable laws, regulations, and regulatory developments
  • Monitor compliance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements and support appropriate follow-up actions
  • Assist in handling legal disputes and coordinate with external legal counsel and relevant parties where required
  • Support the review, development, and implementation of company policies, procedures, and compliance-related documentation
  • Maintain legal agreements, records, correspondence, and related documentation accurately and confidentially
  • Provide legal guidance and clarification to internal stakeholders on assigned matters
  • Support legal training and awareness sessions for employees
  • Coordinate and follow up on assigned legal matters, ensuring timely completion and escalation where required

Person Specification

  • Possess a Bachelor's Degree in Law from a recognised university or an equivalent recognised legal qualification
  • Be an Attorney-at-Law with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in corporate, commercial, or in-house legal practice
  • Be a Notary Public licensed to practise in both Sinhala and English within the jurisdiction of Colombo
  • Sound knowledge of Sri Lankan laws, regulations, corporate law, contract law, and regulatory compliance
  • Experience in drafting, reviewing, and supporting the negotiation of commercial contracts and agreements
  • Strong legal research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to independently manage assigned legal matters and multiple priorities
  • High level of confidentiality, accuracy, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders and external legal parties
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
