Full-Stack Product Engineer – AI Platform (Hybrid NYC)

Location: New York, NY – Flatiron District (Hybrid, 3 days in-office) Employment Type: Full-Time Base Salary: 165,000–205,000 + Equity

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a Product Engineer with 3–6 years of experience to join a small engineering team at a growing, technology-first company in the insurance and financial services industry.

The company is building an AI-native platform that automates complex business workflows, making sophisticated insurance risk management accessible to more businesses.

You'll work directly with business users, learn how their workflows operate, and build AI-powered platform tools that allow teams to automate their own processes.

This opportunity is ideal for a strong engineer who enjoys shipping features people actually use, working across the full stack, and taking ownership from concept through production.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Full-Stack Engineering (60%): Own features end to end across the stack, including React and TypeScript frontends and Node.js and Python services.
  • Business Collaboration (20%): Work directly with business users to understand and automate manual workflows such as invoicing, PDF handling, and approvals.
  • Build platform capabilities including email ingestion, document generation, and integrations with tools such as Harvest and DocuSign.
  • Develop production AI features using LLMs and agentic workflows as core platform capabilities.
  • Product Planning (20%): Collaborate with product managers and business stakeholders on planning and roadmapping.
  • Use AI tools in daily development while exercising sound engineering judgment about when to rely on generated code and when to write or validate code manually.

Required Qualifications

  • 3–6 years of full-time, post-graduation experience as a Software Engineer or Product Engineer. Internships do not count toward this requirement.
  • Experience at a major technology company or late-stage startup known for rigorous engineering standards, such as Google, Google DeepMind, OpenAI, Ramp, Bloomberg, Citadel, Citadel Securities, JPMorgan Chase, Coinbase, or a comparable organization.
  • Strong full-stack product engineering experience, including ownership of user-facing platforms and features from backend/data model through frontend/UI.
  • Production AI experience: Must have shipped features powered by LLMs or agentic workflows and understand how model behavior affects the product.
  • Experience with relevant technologies, including TypeScript, React, Next.js, NestJS, Node.js, Python, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, Kafka, CQRS, Auth0, SpiceDB, GCP, GKE, and GitHub.
  • Experience working directly with users or business stakeholders to understand workflows and translate requirements into working software.
  • Computer Science degree from a strong academic program.
  • A track record of steady employment and strong engineering contributions.
  • Interest in hands-on product engineering and shipping features, rather than focusing exclusively on infrastructure, platform architecture, or CI/CD.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Computer Science degree from a top-50 university.
  • Familiarity with event-driven architecture and event-sourced CQRS.
  • Strong judgment regarding AI-assisted development, including when generated code requires additional scrutiny.
  • Experience in fast-moving engineering environments where quality, ownership, and collaboration are priorities.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: 165,000–205,000
  • Equity: 0.025%–0.1% (4-year vesting, 1-year cliff)
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Unlimited PTO
  • No bonus

Location & Work Authorization

This is a full-time, hybrid position based in New York City's Flatiron District, requiring three days per week in the office.

Visa sponsorship is not available. Candidates must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents (Green Card holders). Candidates requiring visa sponsorship or holding temporary work authorization are not eligible.

Additional Information

No prior insurance industry experience is required. The team values engineers who can learn the business, work closely with users, write high-quality code, and take ownership of the features they build.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
