Position: Senior Quantitative Research Manager, New Product Development – Morningstar Indexes

The Area: Morningstar Indexes is building the next generation of index products at the intersection of markets, quantitative research, data science, and AI, creating global equity, bond, private securities and asset allocation indexes that empower investors worldwide.

The Role: As a senior member of the New Product Development team, you will lead and inspire quantitative analysts who turn bold ideas into indexes - from investment thesis and back-testing to launch - while championing AI-first, research-led ways of working and mentoring the team. This position is based in our Mumbai office.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of quant analysts to build and launch benchmark, thematic, factor, strategic beta, and multi-asset indexes from concept to market
  • Own the full index life cycle - spot opportunities, test signals, run back-tests, shape methodology, and launch
  • Apply quant techniques, machine learning, and risk analytics to turn investment ideas into rules-based methodologies
  • Push the use of AI, coding assistants, and agentic workflows to automate research and speed up product development - and coach the team to do the same
  • Nurture a vibrant R&D culture, collaborating with Morningstar’s research teams and building tools, white papers, and client-ready stories that make complex ideas exciting

Requirements:

  • 8+ years at an index provider, asset manager, investment bank, or fintech/systematic investing firm, with index development and portfolio construction expertise
  • Strong quant toolkit (factor research, back-testing, risk analytics), knowledge of institutional investing and index construction, and coding skills in Python, R, SQL, MATLAB, or similar
  • Excited by AI-first ways of working, with experience using Microsoft Copilot, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Gemini, or ChatGPT; AI agents/RAG exposure is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or financial discipline, or engineering; CFA, MBA, or graduate degree helpful
  • Experience leading projects or mentoring a research team; clear, engaging communicator; published research is a plus
  • A bonus: ESG data and index design expertise, or familiarity with basket design for Structured Products

Why this role is exciting: Build, experiment, and scale new ideas with a talented team - using AI and quant research to create products that reach investors worldwide.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.

Do you really apply for me?

Yes, on the employer's own form, the hardest ones included. Where a question needs you, you answer it right there and AI suggests the best answer. Don't want us applying from our IP addresses? Use our Chrome extension: we apply straight from your own browser.

Is it a subscription?
