Position Summary

The Next Generation Operations (NGO) Product Team is transforming how refining operations are executed by building a connected, real-time operational ecosystem that links the entire Refining value chain. Our vision is to deliver a persona-based "single pane of execution" that enables operations personnel to make better and faster decisions.

We are seeking a highly collaborative Business Systems Analyst (BSA) who can bridge business strategy, operational excellence, and technology delivery. This role will partner closely with refining business stakeholders, product leadership, and a strategic software vendor to define, develop, and implement next-generation capabilities that improve operational visibility, accountability, and decision-making across the refining value chain.

Successful candidates will excel at connecting people, processes, and technology. They will be equally comfortable facilitating workshops with operations personnel, collaborating with commercial and planning stakeholders, and partnering with external software vendors to deliver innovative digital capabilities. They will help drive the transformation from siloed systems and processes to a connected operational environment that provides real-time visibility, improves decision-making, and creates a seamless feedback loop between planning and execution across the refining value chain.

Key Responsibilities

· Assists in the definition of business processes in order to measure, analyze, improve and control the process being reviewed.

· Works closely with the business and development teams to gain an understanding of business partners functional and non-functional requirements, provide feedback, and communicate changes.

· Analyzes and documents business and user requirements, creating documentation of functional requirements specifications.

· Applies understanding of systems and technologies to draft recommendations for appropriate systems alternatives and/or enhancements to current systems.

· Assists with the continuous iterative exploration and investigation of business performance and other measures to gain insight and drive business planning.

· Understands and assists in cost-benefit analyses for proposed systems to aid management in making implementation decisions.

· Identifies opportunities for improvement and document knowledge for Root Cause Analysis (RCA).

· Understands and executes the basic IT service management practices around incident, Change, Problem and Solution Development Lifecycle (SDLC) delivery methodologies including basic configuration tasks.

· Assists in the analysis of test case development and execution in support of technology delivery.

· Assists in the planning, conducting and documenting of user stories, user feedback, supporting development of prototypes and wireframes.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems preferred, related field or equivalent experience.
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience

· Business Analysis - Analyzing current business state within the context of future business state expectations and determining whether new business strategies are needed to address existing issues or meet new needs. Estimating the level of effort to enhance or expand current business strategies.

· Business Partner Relations - The process of acting as a trusted advisor and building strong relationships with colleagues and the business to drive business performance.

· Business Process Modeling & Redesign - Execution of key business process with the objective of achieving a quantum jump in performance measures such as return on investment (ROI), cost reduction, and quality of service.

· Change Management – The process of controlled identification, planning and implementation of required initiatives to prepare, support and help individuals, teams and organizations to navigate through change.

· Continuous Improvement Mindset - Identifies and leads opportunities for continuous improvement and value creation, both incremental and large-scale.

· Incident Management – Ensuring that any incidents affecting processes and performances of relevant technology services or systems are managed appropriately to mitigate risk and minimize disruption.

· Quality Assurance (QA) – The process to ensure organizational activities are designed to ensure that an organization is providing the best possible product or service to customers.

· Requirements Management - The process of documenting, analyzing, tracing, prioritizing and agreeing on requirements and then controlling change while also communicating to relevant stakeholders.

· Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) - A process used by the software industry to design, develop and test high quality softwares.

· Specifications Development - Understanding the context, stakeholders and requirements or features of a product or application and detailing the specifications around them.
