The Press Operator is an essential member of the team, responsible for the manufacturing of printed labels while continuously monitoring label quality and press conditions.
Primary responsibility is to set-up and operates the HP Digital Press; Prepares for preflight, color adjustments, and manufacture of all digitally printed products. Completes visual and specification of quality checks on each retain and continuously monitors quality and press conditions. Maintains press efficiency and minimizes waste. Performs digital press maintenance and requisitions supplies; Adheres to all safety and housekeeping standards.

Lithographic Specific Responsibilities:
The Printing Press operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our Komori 6 Color sheetfed presses. Complete makeready, adjusting press components, such as feeder and delivery mechanisms, suction grippers, guides, feed wheels, jogging devices, tapes, and cams, using hand tools. Removes and replaces worn rollers and adjusts pressure between rollers of press, using hand tools. Wash blankets and clean ink and ink distributing rollers and ink fountains, using ink solvent and cleaning mechanism on press. Makes necessary color or register corrections and/or press adjustments prior to production run to meet and maintain the quality specifications of the work. Requires comprehensive knowledge of offset presswork procedures and materials. Ability to read and follow job specifications to determine press set-up materials needed to run the job successfully. Ability to make adjustments to feeder and feed board (e.g., ability to adjust suctions and blast front and side guides and the timing of the head stops). Ability to instruct and provide guidance to junior level press assistants
Flexographic Specific Responsibilities:
Our Printing Press Operators must adhere to all plant and corporate safety rules, procedures, and guidelines. Completes make-ready in accordance with the Job Ticket and Product Specification documents to ensure correct print cylinders, inks, substrates, tooling, and anilox rollers are used. Operates press to produce product in accordance with customer specifications while maintaining quality, waste, and press efficiency. Maintains consistent quality during the production run. Critical quality checks include copy, color, and registration, and ink adhesion. Ensure conformance to all other quality checks. Responsible for completing all related procedures, work instructions, and quality measurements as outlined in the BRC standard. Completes press make readies in an efficient manner. Cleans plate, cylinder, and ink pans, and lubricates press as needed. Input all required information into the GlobeTek system for material usage and time in an accurate and prompt manner.
Digital Press Specific Responsibilities:
Sets-up job in accordance with job ticket and product specification documents. This includes preflighting files, making color adjustments, staging, and queuing. Completes job start-up, quality sign-off, including specification and visual checks. Operates digital press to produce product in conformance with customer specifications while minimizing waste and maintaining press efficiency. Requisitions all supplies required to operate the digital press and produce quality digital labels, including inks, coatings, machine supplies, parts and tools.
General Responsibilities:
Skill in performing routine operational maintenance and minor repairs to equipment and completing Maintenance Request Forms for equipment needing repairs. Responsible for completing all required quality checks related to product specifications, visual, and functional checks. Completes all press-side quality checks. Skill to follow instructions to operate equipment safely and produce the desired product. Reports any safety risks to supervisor or safety team representative. Maintains a clean and safe work environment and area by completing daily housekeeping assignments. Follows all safety guidelines for proper material handling, machine, and tooling use. Qualifications:
High school diploma/GED or equivalent The minimal language skills are ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information one-on-one. The minimal math ability is addition, subtraction, multiplication and division using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percentages. Must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but straightforward written and oral instructions. Must have basic computer and business operating systems knowledge. Must be able to regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds.
