We are looking for a Press Operator to join our team. Meets safety, production, sustainability, and quality standards. Interacts with other departments to achieve company’s core strategies. Responsible for aligning printed material received from the press room and prepare for cutting.

Responsibilities:
The printing presses are automated and are used to print 4, 5, 6, 7 or 8 colors. Every printing press is operated by a press operator and assisting press operator. The press operator receives the detailed planning from the Production Administration Officer. The order is subsequently finished in the finishing department.
Goal of function: Printing (min. 4 colors) of polypropylene sheets of different sizes, according to the detailed planning and meeting with the general quality requirements set out by the customer by adequate usage of machinery and raw material.
Guaranteeing correct administrative input into the ERP system to allow a correct cost accounting control to be performed. Printing polypropylene sheets according to the high-quality standard set out by the Company. Perform daily maintenance and cleaning of printing press to ensure a clean and safe working environment. Assist assisting press operator where and when possible.

Give training to press assistants Communicate any problems and/or questions with the Team Coach Communicate important technical information to the colleagues to ensure a good shift handover
Specific handling requirements:
Set up, fine tune and operate a printing press. Operate a densitometer, operate a transporter pallet, operate interface of the printing press’ central control unit. Being alert when controlling a printed sheet for its quality and the overall printing process parameters Distinguish colors and color nuances in the printed sheet to match the specification.
Responsibilities:
Perform the required administrative tasks to ensure the printing process is done within the budgeted time and cost. This implies: Checking the specifications on the job letter and double checking with the supplied raw material (press rolls, printing plates, inks, …). Consult and discuss any technical aspects of the order with the Team Coach or Production Administration Officer. Set up of printing press: Input of job letter data using the press interface: load ink profiles, side edge margin, gripper edge margins, etc. Setup of printing plates and dampening unit using press control panel Set up different inks on the correct printing units Set up and fine tune of register Check side- and gripper edge margin Check printed sheet for scratches, dirt, hickeys, register, etc. Assess quality of the printed sheet, approve or fine tune quality and approve start of production Fine tine and maintain process parameters to maintain the quality. Print polypropylene sheets and transport them to the drying area. After the required drying time has been respected, they can be de-stacked. This implies: Checking (visually and electronically) the printed sheets on a regular basis (every 500 sheets) for: color, dirt, dry runners, ink water balance, side edge margins, gripper edge margins,… Assess any quality deviations and adjust accordingly. Fine tune the use any additives, complying with legal requirements, to obtain the best quality possible. Transport printed sheets to the drying area Perform the required administrative tasks Check and assess the work of the press assistant and solve any indicated production problems to ensure smooth production De-stack dry pallets to be stored on the designated area. Perform any preventive maintenance on the printing press, clean the machinery and work environment to ensure machine standstills are minimized. Check blanket and blanket cylinders and replace if required Clean, remove and replace ink and dampening rollers if required Empty dampening units Assisting the technical department during (curative) maintenance Know the danger symbols Understand R&S (Risk and Safety) and H&P (Hazard- and precaution Statements) Applying the requirements for ISO9001, ISO14001 and FDA taking into account the safety, health, environmental and hygiene requirements.
Aggravating circumstances:
Manually move products, loading and unloading of the machine. Working standing up during work hours. Nuisance from noise, scents (inks, cleaning agents,..), dust (anti-set off powder)
Qualifications:
High school diploma/GED or equivalent The minimal language skills are ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information one-on-one. The minimal math ability is addition, subtraction, multiplication and division using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percentages. Must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but straightforward written and oral instructions. Must have basic computer and business operating systems knowledge. Must be able to deal with problems involving a few variables. Must be certified Pallet Jack operator. The physical demands require standing, using hands to feel and touch; reach with arms and hands; talk and hear. This position requires frequent walking. Occasionally employee is required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Must be able to regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds.
