School of Law and Criminology | Murdoch University Expressions of Interest: Summer Term and Semester 1

Murdoch University's School of Law and Criminology is seeking expressions of interest from both new and experienced casual academics interested in contributing to the delivery of our Criminology programs during the upcoming Summer Term and Semester 1 teaching periods.

We are particularly interested in hearing from individuals who are passionate about student learning and capable of teaching into undergraduate and postgraduate units across a range of criminology and criminal justice disciplines.

About the Role

Casual academic staff play an important role in supporting the delivery of high-quality learning experiences for our students. Opportunities may arise for duties such as:

  • Delivering lectures, tutorials and workshops
  • Online teaching and student engagement
  • Marking and assessment moderation
  • Student consultation and academic support
  • Other teaching-related activities associated with unit delivery

Teaching may be offered across a variety of modes, including:

  • Face-to-face teaching at our Perth campus
  • Fully online or blended delivery
  • Offshore teaching support for programs delivered through our Singapore and Dubai partnerships

Appointments may range from occasional engagements in a specialist area through to more frequent, casual teaching commitments across a semester.

Areas of Expertise

We welcome expressions of interest from applicants with expertise in one or more areas including contemporary criminological theory, policing, corrections, crime science, white collar and corporate crime, cybercrime, and research methods.

Applicants with expertise in criminology, sociology, psychology, legal studies, criminal law, politics and public policy, forensic or other related disciplines are encouraged to apply.

About Criminology at Murdoch

Criminology at Murdoch University examines the causes, consequences and prevention of crime, drawing on interdisciplinary perspectives from the social sciences, law and psychology. Students explore contemporary challenges in criminal justice and develop an understanding of how societies respond to crime, victimisation and social harm.

Our programs encourage students to critically analyse crime and justice issues, challenge common assumptions, and investigate evidence-based approaches to crime reduction and prevention. Areas of study include policing, criminal behaviour, crime science, corporate crime, cybercrime, international crime, and criminological research. Students also have opportunities to engage in work-integrated learning and applied experiences that connect academic study with professional practice.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
