Personnel to be deployed at the following hours, unless specified otherwise by the school:

•Mondays to Thursdays: 7.15am to 4.15pm, inclusive of the half-hour lunch break.

•Fridays: 7.15am to 3.45pm, inclusive of half hour lunch break.

•However, the Kitchen Assistant is expected to support the school in terms of school events and programmes that may take place beyond the usual 7.15am – 4.15pm time frame.

•Service is not required on Saturdays, Sundays and gazette public holidays.

Requirements:

The Personnel should preferably have the following qualifications, skills and experience:

(a) At least 3 years of experience as a Food & Nutrition Kitchen Assistant

(b) Possess a valid Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) Food Safety Course Level 1 certificate

(c) Important - The candidate should preferably be able to:

-have good interpersonal skills and work well with teachers and students.

-be a good team player and contribute positively to the team.

-guide and support students patiently during practical lessons.

-be meticulous in stock-taking, food preparation, housekeeping and cleaning.

-have good food hygiene and kitchen safety awareness and follow established safety procedures.

-be organised and responsible in preparing ingredients, equipment and work areas for lessons.

-be adaptable, willing to learn and able to manage tasks independently within given timelines.

Job Scopes:

The Services required are set out as follows:

Job purpose: To assist the Food and Consumer Education (FCE) and Nutrition and Food Science (NFS) teachers in their daily teaching and learning as well as to provide support for the school’s programmes i.e. Applied Learning Programmes (ALP), GEAR-UP that require cooking practicals or the use of the cookery rooms.

Duties include assisting the FCE, NFS and ALP teachers for the following:

(a)Preparation of materials for cookery lessons, practicals, assessments and applied learning programmes.

(b)Daily maintenance, cleaning and sanitising of the two cookery rooms with high levels of cleanliness, hygiene and safety and security.

(c)Two cookery rooms must be cleaned and tidied after every session. Also to ensure the preparation room and 1 container cabin be in a high state of cleanliness, hygiene and safety and security.

(d)Provide update of perishables and dry goods to teachers ordering for the classes.

(e)Maintain and update of all inventories of kitchen equipment and utensils to teachers.

(f)Filing and compilation of all documents in the cookery rooms.

(g)Assist in receiving food from vendors.

(h)Report any facility issues or potential safety risks to the FCE/ NFS Coordinator

(i)Be on standby during practical session to assist FCE/NFS/ALP Teacher’s requests

(j)Help to check that kitchens are locked, electricity and gas power are turned off after class and end of the day.

(k)Perform any duties as assigned by the Craft and Tech department or school.
