The posting

Client: Bank Sector Client:

Primary Focus: Data Analytics & Anti Financial Crime Business Intelligence

Domain/Project: AML/CFT/COSMIC

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Financial Crime Intelligence & Data Analytics Analyst to support the Anti-Financial Crime (AFC) Intelligence function within Group Compliance.

This is an intelligence, investigations and analytics-focused financial crime role, rather than a conventional KYC/CDD onboarding or periodic review position.

The analyst will collect, analyse and enrich information from internal and external sources to identify potential Money Laundering (ML), Terrorism Financing (TF), Proliferation Financing (PF) and other emerging financial crime risks.

The role will also support the use and implementation of COSMIC – Collaborative Sharing of ML/TF Information & Cases, Singapore's information-sharing platform for financial institutions.

Candidates with backgrounds in AML / Financial Crime Investigations, Financial Crime Intelligence, Transaction Monitoring, Fraud Intelligence, STR investigations, sanctions/proliferation financing, financial crime analytics or investigative data analytics are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Crime Intelligence & Investigations

  • Collect, analyse and enrich internal and external Anti-Financial Crime (AFC) intelligence from multiple information sources.
  • Conduct investigative research using information from competent authorities, regulatory and law-enforcement publications, financial crime typology reports, open-source information and internal AFC surveillance systems.
  • Perform operational intelligence analysis to identify specific customers, entities, counterparties and networks that may present financial crime risks.
  • Analyse relationships across customers, accounts, transactions, counterparties, companies, beneficial owners and jurisdictions to identify potential connections or suspicious networks.
  • Conduct strategic intelligence analysis to identify emerging Money Laundering, Terrorism Financing, Proliferation Financing, fraud and other financial crime trends or typologies.
  • Assess how local and international financial crime developments may affect the Bank's customers, products, transactions and overall financial crime risk exposure.

Financial Crime Data Analytics

  • Apply data analytics and investigative analytics techniques to identify unusual patterns, trends, anomalies and relationships within financial crime-related data.
  • Analyse transactional and customer data to support financial crime investigations and intelligence assessments.
  • Use data to identify potential behavioural patterns, transaction flows, linked entities and emerging financial crime typologies.
  • Support the development of analytical approaches that enhance the Bank's ability to identify and understand financial crime threats.
  • Present analytical findings through clear reports, visualisations and management-level intelligence summaries where appropriate.
  • Work with structured and unstructured information from multiple internal and external data sources.

COSMIC / Information Sharing

  • Support the AFC Intelligence function in the implementation and use of COSMIC (Collaborative Sharing of ML/TF Information & Cases).
  • Review and analyse relevant information relating to customers, transactions, counterparties and financial crime concerns.
  • Support intelligence enrichment and assessment of potentially connected customers or entities.
  • Apply sound investigative judgement when assessing information received from internal and external sources.

Intelligence Reporting & Stakeholder Management

  • Translate complex investigative and analytical findings into concise and actionable intelligence assessments.
  • Provide stakeholders with clear updates on identified financial crime risks, emerging trends and potential impact to the Bank.
  • Recommend appropriate risk management actions based on investigative and analytical findings.
  • Work with relevant Compliance, AFC, investigations, surveillance and other stakeholders on financial crime-related matters.
  • Support financial crime intelligence projects and initiatives.

Job Requirements

  • At least 4 years of relevant experience in one or more of the following areas: Financial Crime / AML Investigations Financial Crime Intelligence AML Transaction Monitoring / Complex Investigations STR / Suspicious Activity Investigations Fraud Investigations / Fraud Intelligence Sanctions / Proliferation Financing Investigations Trade-Based Money Laundering investigations Financial Crime Analytics Law Enforcement / Financial Intelligence Investigative or intelligence-related roles involving research and analytical work
  • Strong understanding of AML/CFT and financial crime risks, including Money Laundering, Terrorism Financing and Proliferation Financing.
  • Strong investigative and research skills with the ability to gather, evaluate and corroborate information from multiple sources.
  • Ability to identify trends, relationships, anomalies and patterns from complex datasets and investigative information.
  • Experience using online research tools, intelligence databases and/or data analytics tools.
  • Understanding of how data analytics can be applied to AML, financial crime investigations and intelligence analysis.
  • Ability to translate analytical findings into clear conclusions, financial crime risk assessments and recommendations.
  • Strong written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex findings clearly to stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical thinking, curiosity, integrity and attention to detail.
  • Self-driven, inquisitive and resourceful with good stakeholder-management and project-management capabilities.
  • Diploma or Degree in Finance, Business, Analytics, Information Systems or a related discipline.

Advantageous Experience / Knowledge

Candidates with exposure to the following will have an advantage:

  • COSMIC – Collaborative Sharing of ML/TF Information & Cases
  • AML/CFT regulations and financial crime compliance within the Singapore banking environment
  • MAS AML/CFT requirements
  • Transaction Monitoring
  • Customer Risk / KYC / CDD / Enhanced Due Diligence
  • Suspicious Transaction Reporting / STR investigations
  • Financial crime typologies and red-flag identification
  • Network / link analysis
  • Customer and transaction behavioural analytics
  • Data visualisation and Business Intelligence tools
  • SQL, Excel, Power BI, Tableau, Python or similar analytical tools
  • Commercial intelligence / adverse media / screening databases
  • CAMS, ICA Diploma in AML or other recognised financial crime certifications

Nature of the Role

This position differs from conventional KYC/CDD operations.

A KYC/CDD Analyst typically focuses on establishing and reviewing the identity, ownership and risk profile of an individual customer. A Transaction Monitoring Analyst typically reviews alerts relating to unusual transaction activity.

A Financial Crime Intelligence Analyst takes a broader investigative approach by connecting information across:

Customers → Accounts → Transactions → Counterparties → Companies → Beneficial Owners → Jurisdictions → External Intelligence

The objective is to identify potential financial crime networks, emerging typologies, suspicious patterns and broader threats to the Bank, and to convert these findings into actionable intelligence.

The role therefore combines elements of:

Financial Crime Intelligence + AML Investigations + Investigative Research + Transaction Analysis + Data Analytics + Network Analysis + Regulatory / Financial Crime Knowledge.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
