The role will be responsible for managing the rights and clearances of third-party intellectual property used in the marketing of apps, games, and other third-party content. The successful candidate will work closely with Marketing, Legal, Product, Business, and Services teams to ensure that third-party content and assets are used appropriately and in accordance with applicable rights, licensing requirements, and company standards.

This role requires a combination of business affairs experience, intellectual property and licensing knowledge, commercial judgment, strong stakeholder management, and an understanding of the digital and app ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a core member of the Global Marketing Business Affairs team, partnering with stakeholders across Marketing, Services, Legal, Business, and Product.
  • Review and clear third-party app, game, and digital content proposed for use in marketing activities.
  • Manage and continuously improve the clearance intake process, ensuring requests are handled efficiently, transparently, and within required timelines.
  • Assess rights and licensing considerations relating to third-party content, including copyright, trademarks, public domain, fair use, and rights of publicity.
  • Identify potential legal, commercial, and reputational risks throughout the creative development, production, and execution of marketing initiatives.
  • Develop practical risk-mitigation approaches that support creative and business objectives while maintaining appropriate clearance standards.
  • Provide internal stakeholders with clear and commercially practical guidance on the appropriate use of third-party intellectual property.
  • Partner with Legal teams on trademark, licensing, contractual, and other IP-related matters, providing relevant business context where required.
  • Build effective relationships across multiple functions and facilitate alignment between internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Process and track digital assets received from external partners through internal asset management systems.
  • Maintain clearance standards in line with global Marketing Business Affairs objectives.
  • Stay current on developments in the app marketplace, including relevant industry practices, regulations, emerging technologies, and changing user expectations.
  • Support the development and maintenance of strong relationships with relevant external partners and industry stakeholders.

Key Qualifications & Experience

  • 7–10 years of relevant experience in Business Affairs, content licensing, rights management, or a related function within a creative agency, content-focused organisation, production company, technology company, or app-focused business.
  • Strong working knowledge of intellectual property and rights licensing, including copyright, trademark, public domain, fair use, and rights of publicity.
  • Experience working with licensing arrangements, contracts, and third-party content rights.
  • Understanding of app marketplace guidelines, policies, and industry standards.
  • Awareness of developments and trends within the app, digital content, and technology ecosystem.
  • Good understanding of marketing channels and placements, including digital marketing, social media, print, and out-of-home (OOH).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with varying levels of complexity and competing deadlines.
  • Strong commercial and business judgment, with the ability to translate rights and compliance considerations into practical solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
  • Strong negotiation, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills.

Regional Market & Language Skills

  • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal, are required to work effectively with global and regional stakeholders.
  • Experience working with Southeast Asian markets and an understanding of relevant cultural, commercial, and regulatory considerations would be advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Vietnamese, Bahasa Indonesia, Thai, or Tagalog would be an advantage, particularly where relevant to supporting regional stakeholders, reviewing local-market content, or facilitating market-specific communications.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification required.
  • An MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification would be advantageous.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Strong business and commercial judgment
  • Intellectual property and licensing knowledge
  • Excellent stakeholder management

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
