Application Engineer (Contract) – Power Generation Systems

Location: West Singapore Employment Type: Contract, September 2026 to December 2027

An established engineering organisation is seeking an experienced Application Engineer to support major power generation and infrastructure projects.

The role combines technical engineering, project coordination, customer and supplier management, documentation review, equipment integration, installation support and commissioning. Candidates from power generation, marine, automation, oil & gas, electrical systems and other complex engineering environments are welcome to apply.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and coordinate mechanical and/or electrical engineering solutions for major power generation and infrastructure projects.
  • Review customer specifications, tender documents and technical requirements to establish appropriate engineering solutions and scope of supply.
  • Work closely with Sales, customers, factories, suppliers and contractors to align project requirements and technical deliverables.
  • Develop and review electrical, automation and/or mechanical system requirements for packaged power generation systems and equipment enclosures.
  • Prepare, review and approve engineering documents including drawings, schematics, P&IDs, datasheets, wiring diagrams and system layouts.
  • Perform engineering calculations and technical evaluations to verify design suitability, equipment sizing and system performance.
  • Ensure engineering solutions comply with applicable project specifications, industry standards, codes and regulatory requirements.
  • Define equipment requirements, coordinate procurement specifications and support purchase requisition activities.
  • Provide technical troubleshooting and engineering support throughout project execution, installation, testing and commissioning.
  • Coordinate with site teams and relevant stakeholders during installation, testing and Integrated Systems Testing activities.
  • Work with suppliers and contractors on technical proposals, equipment selection, scope alignment and supplier development.
  • Participate in design reviews, lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives to improve project delivery, technical performance and cost effectiveness.

Who Should Apply

  • Experienced Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineers from power generation, marine/shipping, automation, oil & gas, electrical systems or other project-based engineering environments.
  • Engineers who enjoy a combination of technical problem-solving, documentation, customer coordination, supplier management and site execution, rather than purely desk-based design work.
  • Candidates without direct diesel genset experience may still be considered if they possess strong engineering fundamentals, relevant project execution exposure and a proactive attitude.

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Approximately 5 years or more of relevant engineering/project execution experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting complex mechanical, electrical, automation or electro-mechanical systems.
  • Strong understanding of either electrical or mechanical systems, with willingness and ability to work across both disciplines.
  • Exposure to systems such as generators, engines, switchgear, automation, protection, cooling, ventilation, fuel systems or packaged equipment will be advantageous.
  • Comfortable reviewing and developing technical drawings, schematics, P&IDs, wiring diagrams, system layouts and technical datasheets.
  • Able to perform or understand relevant engineering calculations, equipment sizing and technical evaluations.
  • Experience coordinating with customers, suppliers, contractors and internal project stakeholders.
  • Exposure to equipment installation, testing, commissioning or site execution is advantageous.
  • Experience within data centre, power generation or critical infrastructure projects will be advantageous but is not mandatory.
  • Proficiency in 2D and/or 3D CAD software.
  • Strong communication, coordination and problem-solving skills with a proactive and collaborative working style.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
