The posting

The Philanthropic Partnerships Assistant Manager supports the organisation’s philanthropic fundraising efforts by identifying and developing relationships with prospective funders, managing the grant application and reporting process, and stewarding existing funders. The role requires a strong combination of relationship management, fundraising, writing, research and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate the organisation’s programmes and impact into compelling funding propositions.

Job Responsibilities:

Prospect Identification & Research

  • Identify and research potential philanthropic partners, foundations, trusts, corporates and other funding organisations whose priorities align with the organisation’s programmes and strategic objectives.
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of prospective funders, tracking opportunities, funding priorities, application timelines and relationship status.
  • Monitor the philanthropic landscape and identify emerging funding opportunities and partnership prospects.

Funder Cultivation & Relationship Management

  • Cultivate and develop relationships with prospective and existing funders to build trust, rapport and long-term partnerships.
  • Engage funders through meetings, programme briefings, organisational updates, site visits and other appropriate touchpoints.
  • Understand funders’ priorities and interests and identify opportunities for meaningful alignment with the organisation’s programmes and impact.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of funder interactions, commitments and next steps.
  • Develop compelling funding proposals, concept notes, pitch decks and other fundraising materials tailored to different funders.
  • Work closely with programme teams and internal stakeholders to understand programme needs, outcomes, budgets and impact, and translate these into strong funding propositions.
  • Support and/or lead presentations and pitches to prospective funders, where appropriate.
  • Coordinate the organisation’s grant management process from initial prospecting and application through to funding confirmation.

Grant Management

  • Manage the end-to-end grant lifecycle, including prospect identification, application, proposal development, submission, funding agreements, disbursements, reporting and grant closure.
  • Track grant deliverables, reporting requirements, deadlines, budgets and funding conditions to ensure timely and accurate fulfilment of grant obligations.
  • Work closely with programme and finance teams to ensure grant requirements are met and relevant information is available for funder reporting.
  • Maintain a centralised database and documentation of grants, funders, funding history and reporting requirements.

Funder Stewardship & Impact Reporting

  • Develop and coordinate regular stewardship communications, including impact reports, funding updates, plan and execute donor journey and other donor engagement activities.
  • Gather and synthesise programme outcomes, beneficiary stories, data and impact evidence into compelling reports for funders.
  • Ensure funders receive timely, accurate and meaningful updates on how their contributions are making a difference.
  • Identify opportunities to deepen funder engagement beyond the grant cycle and encourage continued and longer-term support.

Internal Collaboration & Partnership Development

  • Work collaboratively with programme, finance, communications and senior management teams to develop and strengthen philanthropic partnerships.
  • Support the development of organisation-wide fundraising materials, case statements and programme decks.
  • Provide updates on the philanthropic pipeline, funding opportunities, grant status and partnership developments.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of philanthropic partnership strategies, processes and systems.

Job Requirements:

Key Competencies

  • Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to cultivate rapport with donors, foundations and funding organisations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly in proposal writing, presentation and impact storytelling.
  • Good understanding of the philanthropic and social service landscape.
  • Strong project and grant management skills, with excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Strategic and resourceful, with the ability to identify funding opportunities and develop creative partnership propositions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and confidence in engaging stakeholders at different levels.
  • Able to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams.
  • Passion for social impact and a genuine interest in advancing the organisation’s mission.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Business, Communications, Social Sciences, Non-Profit Management or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in fundraising, philanthropy, grant management, corporate partnerships, donor relations or stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience in developing funding proposals, pitch decks and donor/funder reports.
  • Experience managing grants and working with foundations, trusts, corporates or other philanthropic organisations will be an advantage.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
