We’re looking for an experienced Assistant Factory Manager to support the day-to-day management and delivery of our factory operations. This role is suited to a technically strong and solutions-oriented individual with hands-on experience in carpentry, joinery, and fabrication, who can effectively coordinate production, materials, technical requirements, and quality standards. Working closely with the Factory Director and production teams, you will play a key role in driving productivity, resolving challenges, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the required standards.

What you’ll be doing:

Production Planning, Progress Tracking and Reporting

  • Timeline Management: Monitor and track weekly production progress against planned schedules and project timelines to ensure key milestones are achieved.
  • Roadblock Resolution: Identify production bottlenecks, including material shortages, technical issues or information gaps and coordinate timely solutions to minimise delays.
  • Weekly Coordination: Conduct regular progress meetings with the Production Coordinator and Carpenter Leads to review targets, address challenges, and align on priorities.
  • Management Reporting: Prepare and submit weekly production reports to the Factory Director, highlighting progress, key performance indicators, outstanding issues, and potential risks.

Document Control and Technical Revisioning

  • Drawing Management: Review, organize, index, and maintain proper version control of all incoming construction and production drawings, ensuring both digital and physical records are accurately maintained.
  • Drawing Distribution: Ensure the latest approved drawings and revisions are communicated and distributed promptly to the respective Carpenter Leads and production teams to minimize errors and rework.
  • Cost Monitoring: Identify drawing revisions that may affect material requirements, or labor hours, and highlight such changes to the Factory Director for commercial review and cost tracking.

Material Procurement and Inventory Monitoring

  • PR Verification: Check all procurement requests against project material specifications to ensure technical accuracy and minimal material wastage.
  • Procurement Execution: Handle the procurement of raw materials, hardware, fittings, and other specialized items required for production, ensuring materials are available in line with project schedules.
  • Long-Lead Monitoring: Track long-lead and critical materials from order through delivery, escalating potential delays early to prevent disruption to production and assembly schedules.

Technical Expertise and Production Support

  • Technical Guidance: Provide technical guidance and practical expertise in carpentry, joinery, and custom fittings. Support production teams in resolving technical and fabrication-related challenges.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure all construction elements meet high aesthetic standards and structural requirements.
  • Problem Solving: Address construction challenges by providing creative and practical solutions for complex designs.

People and Factory Operations

  • Team Supervision: Provide day-to-day supervision and direction to Carpenter Leads and production personnel, ensuring teams are aligned with production priorities, project requirements, and quality expectations.
  • Productivity and Performance: Monitor team productivity and work progress against planned targets. Identify performance gaps and work with the relevant team leads to implement improvements.
  • Work Allocation & Coordination: Coordinate the allocation of production tasks and ensure clear communication between Carpenter Leads, production personnel, and other relevant teams to maintain an efficient workflow.
  • Discipline & Workplace Standards: Support the Factory Director in maintaining appropriate workplace discipline, attendance, housekeeping, and adherence to company policies and operational procedures.
  • Factory Housekeeping: Ensure production areas, workstations, tools, and materials are properly organized and maintained to promote a safe, efficient, and productive working environment.
  • Operational Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve production processes, workflow efficiency, manpower utilization, and overall factory productivity.

Administrative and Safety Compliance

  • Safety Documentation: Prepare and submit the required administrative and safety documentation, including worker name list, Risk Assessments, Safe Work Procedures (SWPs) and Method Statements.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Assist the Factory Director in ensuring factory operations comply with applicable Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) regulations, statutory requirements, and company safety policies.
  • Safety and Operational Standards: Support the implementation and maintenance of safe working practices and operational standards across the factory.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in factory/ production operations, preferably within carpentry, joinery, interior fit-out, or the Design & Build industry.
  • Diploma or Degree in Carpentry, Interior Design, Construction, Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience in production coordination, workshop/factory supervision, or carpentry/joinery project executive will be added advantage.
  • Good knowledge of materials, hardware, fittings, and fabrication processes, with an understanding of material and labor requirements.
  • Familiar with Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) requirements and safety documentation is preferred.
  • Able to lead and coordinate production teams, allocate manpower effectively, and maintain productivity and work standards.
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team, with a strong sense of responsibility and the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively with production teams, project teams, suppliers, and management.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
