Our Office

A&O Shearman in Singapore is a hub for the firm's work across Southeast Asia and an integral part of the firm's Asia Pacific network. Our history in Singapore spans 30 years, and we were among the first international firms to be granted a Singapore Qualifying Foreign Law Practice (QFLP) license in 2008. Drawing on our Singapore, U.S. and English law capability, we support clients on complex, cross-border transactions involving Singapore law elements. The Capital Markets group is a market-leading practice. We are looking for a junior associate to join our India capital markets practice in Singapore, with a focus on debt and equity capital markets transactions, including Rule 144A/Reg S offerings, IPOs, QIPs, block trades, bond issuances and similar cross-border matters. The successful candidate will support a growing pipeline of India-related capital markets work for leading investment banks, issuers and underwriters, working closely with partners and senior associates in Singapore.

Role Requirements

  • India, England & Wales and/or Singapore-qualified lawyer, or equivalent, with up to five years’ relevant experience, including any training contract period.
  • Demonstrable India capital markets experience is essential, ideally gained in India and/or Singapore.
  • Experience in debt and/or equity capital markets transactions, including Rule 144A/Reg S offerings, IPOs, QIPs, block trades, bond issuances or similar transactions.
  • Must be willing and able to start by January 2027 at the latest.
  • Strong drafting, analytical and legal research skills.
  • Organised, detail-focused and able to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced transactional environment.
  • Commercially minded, with the ability to deliver pragmatic, client-focused advice.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build credibility with partners, fee earners, clients and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborative team player with sound judgment, intellectual curiosity and a commitment to developing as a lawyer.
