The posting

Job Purpose:

The Autonomous Vehicle (AV) Operator / Safety Operator is responsible for the safe testing, deployment, and oversight of autonomous vehicles within Singapore's urban landscape. This position necessitates a combination of driving proficiency, technical diagnostic skills, and effective passenger engagement to facilitate the company's autonomous services, all while strictly complying with Land Transport Authority (LTA) regulations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Vehicle Operation & Safety

  • Operate autonomous vehicles in manual and autonomous modes, intervening when necessary to ensure passenger and road safety.
  • Monitor AV system performance (e.g., perception, path planning) via in-vehicle interfaces and report anomalies (e.g., sensor failures, erratic behavior).
  • Conduct pre/post-trip inspections (e.g.,tire pressure, software updates) and log maintenance issues.
  • Follow emergency protocols for accidents, system malfunctions, or passenger incidents (e.g., medical emergencies).

2. Testing & Data Collection

  • Execute predefined test routes to validate AV performance in specific scenarios (e.g., heavy rain, dense traffic, gantries).
  • Document edge cases (e.g., jaywalking pedestrians, construction zones) and provide detailed feedback to engineering teams.
  • Annotate and upload data (video, sensor logs) to approved cloud platforms for AI training.

3. Passenger & Public Interaction

  • Educate passengers on AV technology, safety features, and ride protocols (e.g., seatbelt use, emergency button).
  • Act as a brand ambassador, addressing passenger concerns and ensuring a positive user experience in accordance with Grab’s service standards and Code of Conduct.
  • Engage with authorities/pedestrians to explain AV operations

4. Compliance & Reporting

  • Adhere to LTA’s AV regulatory framework, including licensing, geofencing, and data-sharing requirements.
  • Complete daily safety reports detailing incidents, near-misses, or software bugs via company platforms.
  • Participate in audits with regulators or internal safety teams.

Qualifications & Skills

Mandatory

  • Possession of a valid Singapore Class 3/4 driving license with a clean record (no major violations in the past 3 years).
  • Possession of a valid Taxi Driver Vocational License / Private Hire Driver Vocational License (TDVL / PDVL) with at least 1 year of experience
  • Demonstrated technological proficiency: Comfortable with tablets, diagnostic tools, and fundamental software interfaces.
  • Language proficiency: Fluent in English (spoken and written); additional languages (Mandarin, Malay, Tamil) are advantageous for passenger interaction.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • A strong commitment to safety.

Preferred

  • Certification in defensive driving or safety training (e.g., GrabAcademy Driver Safety Training / WSQ Advanced Certificate in Workplace Safety).

Working Conditions

  • Shift work: Rotating 5-Day Work week schedules (early mornings/late nights) to cover peak demand and testing windows.
  • Physical demands: Sitting for extended periods, occasional lifting of equipment (up to 20kg).
  • Environment: 80% on-road (Singapore urban/rural routes), 20% depot-based (briefings, vehicle prep).
  • You will be employed through our designated agency partner and fully deployed to support Grab’s Autonomous Vehicle (AV) operations.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
