Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Business Development Director with strong knowledge and established connections in the marine and shipyard industry.

The candidate will be responsible for developing new business opportunities, maintaining relationships with ship owners and shipyard clients, and securing projects in ship repair, piping fabrication, marine engineering and vessel maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and secure new business opportunities in the marine and shipyard industry.
  • Liaise directly with ship owners, ship managers, shipyards, vessel operators and marine contractors.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with ship owners and key industry stakeholders.
  • Identify upcoming vessel repair, maintenance, piping fabrication and marine engineering projects.
  • Actively source and bring new projects and business opportunities to the Company.
  • Develop new client accounts and expand existing business relationships.
  • Understand client requirements and coordinate with technical and operations teams to develop suitable work scopes and quotations.
  • Follow up on tenders, quotations and commercial proposals.
  • Participate in client meetings, vessel inspections, shipyard meetings and commercial negotiations.
  • Develop business opportunities involving piping fabrication, piping installation, piping modification, vessel repair and maintenance works.
  • Identify additional works, variation orders and follow-on project opportunities.
  • Monitor market trends and upcoming shipyard and marine projects.
  • Maintain a healthy pipeline of potential projects and clients.
  • Support project teams in maintaining good relationships with clients throughout project execution.

Requirements

  • Minimum 20 years of relevant experience in marine, shipyard, ship repair, offshore or marine engineering industries.
  • Strong knowledge of ship repair and marine engineering works.
  • Good understanding of piping fabrication, piping installation, piping modification and welding/fabrication works.
  • Strong existing network with ship owners, ship managers, shipyards and marine contractors.
  • Proven experience in securing and bringing new projects to the organisation.
  • Experience in business development, tendering, quotation and commercial negotiations.
  • Strong understanding of shipyard operations and marine project requirements.
  • Ability to understand technical work scopes and communicate effectively with technical and commercial teams.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and client relationship management skills.
  • Strong business development and project acquisition capabilities.
  • Able to work independently and develop new business opportunities.
  • Willing to travel to shipyards, vessels and client locations when required.
