Business Development Executive – Marine Industry

Job Overview

Our client, an established company within the Marine & Offshore industry, is seeking a motivated and commercially driven Business Development Executive to join its growing team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing new business opportunities, managing customer relationships and promoting the company's marine products and services to shipowners, ship managers, shipyards, vessel operators and other maritime organisations.

This is an excellent opportunity for a marine professional with at least 1 year of sales, business development or customer-facing experience who is looking to build a long-term career within the maritime industry.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Sales

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities within the marine and offshore market.
  • Proactively approach potential customers and build relationships with key decision-makers.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with shipowners, ship managers, shipyards, vessel operators and marine service companies.
  • Conduct customer visits, meetings and presentations to understand client requirements.
  • Promote the company's marine products, equipment and/or services.
  • Prepare quotations, proposals and commercial presentations for customers.
  • Follow up on enquiries, quotations and sales opportunities to convert them into business.
  • Achieve agreed sales and business development targets.

Account Management

  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing customers.
  • Understand customer requirements and identify opportunities for repeat business and cross-selling.
  • Act as a key point of contact for customers and ensure timely follow-up on enquiries.
  • Coordinate with internal technical, operations and sales teams to ensure customer requirements are addressed.
  • Handle customer feedback and assist in resolving commercial or service-related issues.

Market Development

  • Research the marine market to identify potential customers, projects and business opportunities.
  • Monitor competitor activities, market trends and customer requirements.
  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of prospective customers.
  • Attend industry exhibitions, conferences, seminars and networking events.
  • Leverage industry contacts and networking opportunities to generate new leads.

Reporting & Sales Administration

  • Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, sales activities and opportunities.
  • Prepare regular sales and business development reports for management.
  • Update CRM systems and ensure proper follow-up of sales leads.
  • Work closely with management to develop and execute business development strategies.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in business development, sales, account management or a related commercial role.
  • Experience within the marine, maritime, offshore, shipping or engineering industry is preferred.
  • Diploma or Degree in Business, Engineering, Maritime Studies or a related discipline is advantageous.
  • Strong interest in developing a career in marine sales and business development.
  • Good understanding of the maritime industry and its key stakeholders.
  • Confident in communicating with customers and building professional relationships.
  • Strong negotiation, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive, self-motivated and target-driven.
  • Good commercial awareness and willingness to learn.
  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively with internal teams.
  • Good command of written and spoken English.
  • Willingness to travel for customer meetings and business development activities when required.
