Business Development & Retail Growth Manager

LAURENE Living | Singapore | Full-Time | S$3,500/month | Career Conversion Opportunity

Build a growing Singapore lifestyle brand from the ground up.

LAURENE Living is a Singapore-based modern botanical home & lifestyle brand creating thoughtfully crafted products that elevate everyday spaces.

We are looking for an entrepreneurial, commercially minded and energetic mid-career professional who is interested in making a career transition into business development, retail, entrepreneurship and AI-enabled business growth.

This is not a conventional retail sales role. You will work directly with the founder and progressively take ownership of business development, physical retail, product operations and business scaling.

The Opportunity

LAURENE Living already has external support for digital marketing and an integrated website.

Your primary focus will therefore be the physical and commercial side of the business — getting our products into people's hands, developing partnerships, understanding customers and building a repeatable model for growth.

PHASE 1 — Business Development & Physical Retail

You will:

  • Introduce and demonstrate LAURENE Living products to potential customers
  • Develop corporate gifting opportunities
  • Approach boutiques, lifestyle businesses and potential retail partners
  • Identify suitable events, pop-ups and offline sales opportunities
  • Build relationships with potential business partners
  • Conduct product demonstrations and scent experiences
  • Gather customer feedback and identify new opportunities
  • Develop and manage a pipeline of potential sales and partnerships
  • Test different offline sales strategies and measure results

PHASE 2 — Product & Operations

As you become familiar with the business, you will progressively learn the operational side of LAURENE Living.

This may include:

  • Small-batch product production
  • Working with established product formulations and processes
  • Production and quality control
  • Product costing and margins
  • Inventory and fulfilment
  • Developing standard operating procedures
  • Improving production efficiency
  • Exploring ways to delegate and standardise production

PHASE 3 — Build a Scalable Business

The longer-term objective is to make LAURENE Living less dependent on the founder personally making, selling and managing every aspect of the business.

You will explore:

  • Building repeatable sales processes
  • Training and coordinating other people
  • Developing production SOPs
  • Creating scalable retail and partnership models
  • Improving unit economics
  • Using AI to automate repetitive work
  • Using customer data and feedback to improve decisions
  • Building systems that allow the business to grow

PHASE 4 — Regional Expansion

As the business develops, you may have the opportunity to work on expansion beyond Singapore, including:

  • APAC market research
  • Identifying potential distributors and partners
  • Evaluating new markets
  • Exploring regional retail opportunities
  • Understanding local customer preferences
  • Supporting cross-border growth

Who We Are Looking For

This role is particularly suited to a mid-career professional looking for a genuine career transition.

Essential requirements

To be considered for this opportunity, you should:

  • Be a Singapore Citizen aged 40 or above
  • Have at least 2 years of relevant working experience
  • Be looking to make a genuine career transition into a new role/function
  • Be willing to undertake structured on-the-job training
  • Be available for full-time employment
  • Be comfortable in a customer-facing environment
  • Be willing to approach people and businesses in person
  • Be proactive, resourceful and commercially minded
  • Be comfortable learning new skills outside your previous career
  • Be interested in entrepreneurship, business development and AI
  • Be able to work independently and take initiative

Candidates whose previous experience is in a different occupation or industry and who are seeking to transition into business development, retail and growth are particularly encouraged to apply.

Useful backgrounds

Experience in any of the following would be useful:

  • Sales
  • Business development
  • Retail
  • Marketing
  • Hospitality
  • Luxury
  • Consumer products
  • Events
  • Design
  • Technology
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Customer experience

However, you do not need to come from the retail industry. We are interested in people who can bring transferable skills and are genuinue motivated to move into a new career direction.

Career Conversion Opportunity

This position is intended to be structured as a Career Conversion Programme (CCP) opportunity, subject to the eligibility of the employer, candidate, role and programme approval.

The role involves meaningful development across:

Business Development → Retail → Sales → Product → Operations → AI → Scaling → Regional Expansion

This is an opportunity to build practical experience across the commercial and operational sides of a growing consumer brand.

What Makes This Role Different?

You will work directly with the founder of a growing Singapore brand and have the opportunity to see how a business is built from the ground up.

This is suited to someone who wants to move beyond a conventional corporate role and develop hands-on entrepreneurial and commercial experience.

You will not simply be given a fixed list of tasks.

The long-term objective is to find someone who can take ownership of meaningful parts of the business and help build LAURENE Living into a scalable regional brand.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

Do you really apply for me?

Yes, on the employer's own form, the hardest ones included. Where a question needs you, you answer it right there and AI suggests the best answer. Don't want us applying from our IP addresses? Use our Chrome extension: we apply straight from your own browser.
