Business Development & Sales Operations Executive
Woodslab Fine Furniture Private Limited
One Sims Lane #01-01, Singapore 387355
1. ROLE SUMMARY
The Business Development & Sales Operations Executive is the Company's consultative retail salesperson. The Employee is responsible for converting showroom, appointment and trade enquiries into confirmed orders across the Woodslab slab furniture range, and for building the customer acquisition, customer relationship management and showroom experience infrastructure on which the Company's retail sales function depends.
The Employee brings a design and visualisation background to the role. That background is applied in support of the sale, to help a customer see a proposed piece in their own space and reach a decision. Design specification, production drawing and factory liaison are prepared and owned by the Company's production team and the Founder / CEO, and sit outside the Employee's remit.
A "custom project" means any item supplied in addition to a slab top, including cabinetry, cupboards, television consoles, sideboards, storage pieces and comparable made-to-order items. A slab top supplied with a catalogue leg or base model is a retail sale. The Employee sells both; specification, production drawing and factory liaison on custom projects are prepared and owned by the Company's production team and the Founder / CEO.
The Employee reports to the Founder / CEO and works alongside the Sales Lead; this is a working relationship and not a reporting line. During the Probation Period the Employee operates in a support capacity on retail sales and does not carry an individual retail target. Following confirmation of employment, the Employee takes individual retail sales responsibility.
The role also develops the Company's trade channel with the interior design and specifier community, and is accountable for the acquisition activity that feeds the showroom pipeline.
2. SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES
2.1 Consultative Retail Sales and Product Advisory
- Acquire working knowledge of the Woodslab slab range, covering wood species characteristics, grain movement, density, moisture behaviour and provenance across African Ebony, Japanese Sakura, Australian Eucalyptus and European Maple, and apply it in live customer conversation.
- Advise showroom customers and trade partners on slab selection, table proportions, base and leg configurations, edge treatments and finish options against their stated budget, room dimensions and intended use.
- Conduct structured product demonstrations at the showroom, using the slab library, finish samples and base models to move a customer from browsing to a shortlisted specification.
- Prepare itemised quotations covering slab, base, finishing, optional epoxy work, delivery and installation, and submit each quotation to the Sales Lead or Founder / CEO for approval of pricing and discount before issue to the customer.
- Handle price, lead time and natural-material objections using the Company's written product documentation, and record all material caveats on the quotation rather than communicating them verbally alone.
- Carry the retail customer journey from first enquiry through to deposit, slab reservation and order confirmation, supporting the Sales Lead during the Probation Period and assuming individual ownership following confirmation of employment.
2.2 Customer Acquisition and Trade Channel Development
- Identify and research interior design firms, architectural practices and project specifiers, and qualify them by project type, design specialisation and material specification preference.
- Conduct structured outreach to qualified trade contacts through email, telephone, LinkedIn and in-person engagement to introduce the Woodslab range and the showroom.
- Secure showroom appointments for designers and their end-clients, and host trade visits at the One Sims Lane showroom.
- Build and maintain a target account list, and operate a consistent follow-up cadence on designer referrals and project opportunities.
- Represent the Company at design and retail industry events, and convert contacts made there into logged and followed-up leads.
- Track acquisition activity and outcomes by channel, and report on which sources produce qualified showroom traffic.
2.3 Customer Relationship Management and Pipeline Operations
- Record all customer interactions, outreach activity, quotations and order updates in the Company's CRM system as the single official record of sales activity.
- Design and maintain a segmented customer database across retail walk-in customers, appointment customers, interior designers and trade partners.
- Operate the pipeline through defined stages, maintaining accurate stage, value and next-action fields on every open opportunity.
- Run a structured follow-up discipline on outstanding quotations, customer decisions and deposits, and escalate stalled opportunities to the Founder / CEO.
- Work the existing customer base systematically for repeat and referral business, and operate loyalty initiatives that hold repeat retail customers and trade partners.
- Improve the CRM configuration, workflows and data fields over time so that the system scales with the sales team.
2.4 Showroom Experience and Visual Merchandising
- Maintain the showroom customer journey from arrival to departure, ensuring the slab library, display pieces, finish samples and customer touch-points present the Company's premium positioning consistently.
- Plan and rotate showroom displays to reflect stock availability, seasonal demand, and the pieces the Company is actively promoting.
- Prepare and host appointment customers and trade visits, including pre-visit preparation and post-visit follow-up.
- Support showroom events and activations, and maintain walk-in coverage and end-of-day readiness alongside the wider team.
- Gather and log customer feedback on the showroom experience, and recommend changes that improve engagement and conversion.
2.5 Design-Assisted Selling
- Produce visuals of a proposed piece for customer presentation, to scale, showing slab proportion, base and leg configuration, edge profile and finish, so that the customer can reach a decision before deposit.
- Present a proposed piece in context using customer-supplied room dimensions or photographs, so that proportion and fit are agreed at the point of sale.
- Issue the agreed visual together with the quotation, so that the customer, the production team and the Company are working to one agreed reference.
- Hand over confirmed orders to the production team with the agreed visual and the customer's stated requirements recorded in writing. Production drawings, build specification and factory liaison are prepared and owned by the production team and the Founder / CEO.
2.6 Sales Operations and Service Excellence
- Develop Standard Operating Procedures covering enquiry intake, quotation preparation, order handover, trade partner management and after-sales service.
- Design workflows and reference materials for current and future sales team members, including customer service scripts, objection-handling guides and product knowledge resources.
- Document the full retail customer journey from first contact through to delivery and post-sale account care, and address service gaps as they arise.
- Operate after-sales follow-up on delivered orders, including care guidance on solid timber and resolution of customer queries.
- Maintain accurate sales administration records across pipeline activity, transactions, customer profiles and trade partner accounts.
2.7 Customer and Sales Analytics
- Review retail conversion rates, pipeline velocity and trade partner engagement using CRM data and sales records.
- Analyse customer behaviour across product categories, material types, price points and customer segments to identify patterns and preferences.
- Track demand trends in the bespoke and premium furniture retail segment, and monitor feedback from customers, designers and showroom visitors.
- Translate findings into recommendations to the Founder / CEO on demand trends and slab purchasing priorities, customer acquisition and loyalty strategy, and improvements to sales and service delivery.
2.8 Reporting and Stakeholder Management
- Report on pipeline progress, retail sales performance and trade partner activity against the measures at paragraph 3.
- Provide regular performance updates to the Founder / CEO, and share market intelligence gathered from customers, designers and trade events.
- Coordinate with the production team and the Operations and Logistics Executive on delivery scheduling and customer communication for confirmed orders.
3. PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
