Business Manager – Asia Pacific

Location: Singapore Department: Business Operations / Commercial Reporting To: Director Business: Kumar Organic Products

About the Role

Kumar Organic Products is looking for an experienced and hands-on Business Manager – Asia Pacific to lead the overall operations and business development of the Singapore entity and support the company’s growth across the Asia Pacific region.

The role will have end-to-end responsibility for achieving AOP, sales, logistics, formulation activities, research and development, customer coordination, and overall business operations in Singapore. The Business Manager will work closely with the Director and internal teams to drive commercial growth, operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and successful execution of business plans across the region.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

  • Achieve AOP and Develop and execute sales strategies for Singapore and the Asia Pacific markets.
  • Identify new customers, distributors, business opportunities, and strategic partnerships.
  • Manage existing customer relationships and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Prepare and achieve sales targets, budgets, and business growth objectives.
  • Team management, handle MNC's and manage sales team in line with coordination with customers on product requirements, quotations, technical discussions, samples, trials, and commercial negotiations.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, customer requirements, and emerging opportunities across APAC.

Logistics & Supply Chain

  • Oversee end-to-end logistics and supply-chain activities for the Singapore business.
  • Coordinate imports, exports, shipments, warehousing, inventory, documentation, and deliveries.
  • Work closely with suppliers, freight forwarders, customs agents, warehouses, and customers.
  • Ensure timely and cost-effective movement of products and raw materials.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate supply planning with the relevant teams.

Formulation & Application Laboratory

  • Oversee the activities of the formulation/application laboratory in Singapore.
  • Coordinate customer-specific formulation development, product modifications, samples, trials, and technical support.
  • Work with customers and internal technical teams to understand application requirements and develop suitable solutions.
  • Ensure projects are properly documented, tracked, and delivered within agreed timelines.

Research & Development Laboratory

  • Manage and coordinate research activities undertaken through the Singapore R&D laboratory.
  • Identify opportunities for new product development, product improvement, and application innovation.
  • Coordinate R&D projects with customers, technical teams, and the Director.
  • Track research projects, trials, results, and commercialization opportunities.
  • Support technology development and knowledge transfer across the Asia Pacific business.

Overall Business Operations

  • Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the Singapore business.
  • Ensure effective coordination between sales, logistics, laboratory, finance, administration, and other support functions.
  • Develop operating plans, budgets, forecasts, and performance reports for management.
  • Monitor business performance against agreed objectives and take corrective action where required.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Singapore regulatory, statutory, quality, health & safety, and company requirements.
  • Establish efficient processes and systems to support the growth of the Singapore and APAC operations.
  • Provide regular business updates, market intelligence, financial information, and strategic recommendations to the Director.

Asia Pacific Responsibilities

  • Support business expansion and customer development across the Asia Pacific region.
  • Coordinate with regional customers, distributors, agents, and business partners.
  • Identify opportunities to establish or strengthen the company's presence in key APAC markets.
  • Coordinate regional technical, commercial, and operational requirements.
  • Support the Director in developing and implementing the company’s APAC growth strategy.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Ability to manage technical/formulation and R&D activities effectively.
  • Strong customer relationship and negotiation skills.
  • Good analytical, planning, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining close coordination with senior management.
  • Entrepreneurial, proactive, and results-focused approach.
  • Strong understanding of the Singapore and/or Asia Pacific business environment.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Life Sciences, Business Management, or a related field.
  • 10–20 years of relevant experience, preferably in specialty chemicals, organic chemicals, ingredients, personal care, coatings, polymers, pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, or a related industry.
  • Experience in a combination of sales/business development, technical services, formulation/R&D, supply chain, and operations will be highly valued.
  • Prior experience managing a business unit, subsidiary, laboratory, or regional operation is preferred.
  • Experience working with customers and business partners across Asia Pacific is an advantage.
