The posting

We are hiring a Chief Executive responsible for entity and commercial business outcomes without being dominated by profit growth.

Our CE works closely with Singapore insurer CEOs to advance the common interest of GIA’s members. The CE is a strong stakeholder diplomat who engages and balances the needs of diverse stakeholders including commercial partners, government agencies, and the public.

Responsibilties

1. Strategy and governance

  • Lead all corporate planning
  • Consider new opportunities and develop suitable and relevant ones for the Management Committee’s agreement, and implement
  • Prepare each year’s workplan and budget and deliver them at the Special General Meeting
  • Drive the corporate governance, operational and risk management policies and execution

2. Membership

Engage the membership on matters of common interest

  • Engage member CEs and consider their inputs on what GIA should continue, stop or change
  • Rally the member insurers to agree a common position
  • Agree the way forward with MC and implement to achieve the desired outcomes

Advocate the common interest of the membership

  • Monitor policy developments and prompt policy responses or proposals
  • Identify the right opportunity, timing and person to advocate our position either now or later

3. General insurance sector development with external stakeholders

  • Collaborate with external stakeholders to drive sector development
  • Represent sector’s needs at external platforms and organisations

4. Capability building

  • Evaluate and develop new capabilities for GIA
  • Work with other sister associations and external stakeholders to deliver the talent initiatives across the insurance sector

5. Operations

  • Oversee the proper running of all the operational functions including finance, people, PR, technology, tech security, legal, data protection, procurement, business continuity

6. People development

  • Develop team members within their roles and for higher appointment

7. Branding, marketing and communications

  • Make public statements on behalf of GIA and the GI sector
  • Develop communications and social media channels and content

8. International relations

Manage the international relations with overseas entities

  • Represent GIA at ASEAN Council of Bureaux and International Union of Marine Insurance as association secretary.
  • Support the GIA President at the ASEAN Insurance Council and EAIC Executive Board
  • Receive foreign visitors and delegations

Candidate Profile

Experience

  • Experienced senior leader or senior manager with direct accountability for enterprise-level policies and business outcomes
  • Experienced in engaging Board and C-suite effectively
  • Experience in these areas would be an advantage:
  • Overseeing multiple operational functions and policy such as finance, people, public relations, technology, tech security, legal, data protection, procurement, business continuity
  • Regulated sectors and regulatory advocacy
  • Designing, implementing and improving sector-wide technology platforms for data exchange and analytics
  • Working with volunteers who serve at your entity

Salary range

$14,000 to $20,000 monthly x 13 months

We have a clean wage policy: salary is inclusive of monthly allowances.
