The posting

We are seeking a proactive and collaborative DevOps Engineer with a strong foundation in Amazon Web Services (AWS) to join our innovative team. This role is pivotal in bridging the gap between software development and IT operations, focusing on automating and streamlining our operational processes. The ideal candidate will be passionate about building and maintaining scalable, reliable, and efficient cloud infrastructure while fostering a culture of continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD).

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain our CI/CD pipelines to automate application testing and deployment.
  • Implement and manage a scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant infrastructure on AWS.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and management using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles with tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Manage core AWS services, including VPC, IAM, ECS, S3, EC2, EBS, CloudWatch, and RDS.
  • Configure and maintain virtual private clouds (VPCs), subnets, and security groups to ensure a secure and efficient network environment.
  • Administer Identity and Access Management (IAM) to securely control access to AWS resources.[3]
  • Deploy, manage, and scale containerized applications using ECS and Docker.
  • Utilize CloudWatch and other monitoring tools to ensure system health, performance, and reliability.
  • Collaborate closely with development teams to optimize the software development lifecycle from coding to deployment and maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in our development, test, and production environments.
  • Implement and enforce security best practices for our cloud infrastructure.

Core Skills Required

AWS (at least junior level):

  • VPC: Solid understanding of creating and configuring Virtual Private Clouds, subnets, route tables, and internet gateways.
  • IAM: Experience with creating and managing users, groups, roles, and policies.
  • ECS: Knowledge of deploying, managing, and scaling containerized applications.
  • S3: Familiarity with object storage, bucket policies, and lifecycle management.
  • EC2: Experience with launching, managing, and monitoring virtual servers.
  • EBS: Understanding of block storage volumes and snapshot management.
  • CloudWatch: Ability to set up monitoring, create alarms, and analyze logs.
  • RDS: Knowledge of setting up, operating, and scaling relational databases.

(Other AWS services can be learned along the way)

DevOps & Automation:

  • CI/CD: Experience with building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Hands-on experience with tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
  • Containerization: Proficiency with Docker for building and managing containers.
  • Scripting: Strong scripting skills in languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation.
  • Version Control: Proficient with Git and Git-based workflows.

Networking:

  • AWS VPC Fundamentals: A strong grasp of VPCs, subnets, security groups, and network ACLs.
  • Firewalls: Understanding of firewall concepts and experience with security group configurations.
  • Security Groups: Proficiency in creating and managing security group rules to control inbound and outbound traffic.
  • DNS: Knowledge of DNS principles and experience with DNS management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or in a similar software engineering role.
  • Hands-on experience with core AWS services.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • A passion for automation and process improvement.
  • AWS certification (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) is a plus.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
