About the Opportunity

Our client is an established Asian bank with a growing presence in the region. They are looking for a Compliance Specialist to join their Compliance Department, supporting the KYC/CDD function.

This role will focus on reviewing higher-risk client relationships, providing KYC/CDD advisory to the business, and ensuring that client onboarding and ongoing reviews are conducted in line with regulatory and internal requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct KYC/CDD reviews for new and existing high-risk clients, ensuring compliance with the Bank’s internal policies, procedures and applicable MAS requirements, including MAS Notice 626 and relevant guidelines.
  • Assess client profiles and identify potential money laundering, terrorism financing, proliferation financing and reputational risks arising from client relationships.
  • Review and evaluate Source of Wealth (SoW) information, including the adequacy of supporting documentation and corroboration provided by the Front Office.
  • Ensure appropriate KYC/CDD documentation and supporting evidence are obtained, properly recorded and maintained, and prepare relevant compliance reports.
  • Work closely with Front Office and other Business Units to provide KYC/CDD advisory, including matters relating to FATCA and CRS.
  • Identify and assess potentially suspicious activities or transactions arising during KYC reviews and support the timely escalation and reporting of suspicious transactions where required.
  • Support the preparation of daily and monthly AML-related reports, as well as monitoring KYC review completion, transaction history reports and CDD tracking.
  • Assist in delivering KYC/CDD briefings and training to relevant Business Units.
  • Support internal and external audit requirements, including document retrieval, information requests and preparation of relevant statistics or reports.
  • Keep abreast of developments relating to AML/CFT, sanctions, financial crime risks, regulatory requirements, industry practices, criminal typologies and emerging trends.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance existing KYC/CDD processes and controls and contribute to compliance-related improvement initiatives.
  • Undertake other compliance-related or ad hoc responsibilities as required.

Requirements

  • Degree or relevant tertiary qualification, with at least 3 years of total experience in the financial services industry.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in AML, KYC and/or CDD.
  • Good working knowledge of MAS regulatory requirements, particularly MAS Notice 626 and the relevant guidelines and industry best practices.
  • Knowledge and exposure to sanctions, financial crime investigations and AML/CFT requirements.
  • Strong research, analytical and assessment skills, with a meticulous approach to reviewing client information and preparing quality reports.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities effectively and deliver work within established deadlines.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with Business Units and internal stakeholders.
  • A proactive, diligent and resilient team player who is able to work independently and take ownership of assigned responsibilities.
  • ACAMS or ICA certification would be an advantage.
  • Candidates with relevant KYC/CDD, AML, sanctions or financial crime compliance experience within a banking or financial services environment are encouraged to apply.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
