We are looking for a Cook to join our canteen kitchen team. The Cook will be responsible for preparing and cooking dishes for daily canteen operations.
Job Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook dishes according to the daily menu.
- Prepare ingredients such as meat, vegetables, spices, sauces and other food items.
- Cook food in suitable quantities for daily canteen operations.
- Ensure food is prepared on time and meets the required taste and quality standards.
- Maintain proper portion control and minimise food wastage.
- Check the freshness and quality of ingredients before use.
- Follow proper food handling, storage and hygiene practices.
- Keep the kitchen and cooking areas clean and organised.
- Clean and maintain cooking equipment and utensils.
- Assist with receiving, checking and storing food supplies.
- Follow workplace safety and food hygiene requirements.
- Assist other kitchen staff when required.
- Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor or management.
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of relevant cooking experience preferred.
- Experience in Indian or Chinese cuisine will be an advantage.
- Experience in a canteen, food court, catering kitchen or high-volume kitchen is preferred.
- Able to prepare food in large quantities.
- Good knowledge of basic cooking methods and food hygiene.
- Able to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Responsible, hardworking and able to work as part of a team.
- Willing to work shifts, weekends and public holidays when required.
