Job Description – Cook / Lead Cook

We are looking for an experienced and dependable Cook / Lead Cook to prepare high-quality dishes and support the smooth daily operation of our kitchen. The successful candidate should be able to work efficiently during busy service periods while maintaining consistent food quality, hygiene and presentation standards.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and cook dishes according to approved recipes, portion sizes and presentation standards.

Complete daily preparation work before each service period.

Check the freshness and quality of ingredients before use.

Ensure that customer orders are prepared accurately and served promptly.

Maintain consistent food quality, taste and presentation.

Follow food hygiene, workplace safety and sanitation procedures.

Keep workstations, kitchen equipment and storage areas clean and organised.

Monitor ingredient levels and inform the Chef or Kitchen Manager when supplies need replenishing.

Reduce food wastage through proper portioning, storage and stock rotation.

Assist with receiving, checking and storing food deliveries.

Support the training and guidance of junior cooks and kitchen helpers.

Carry out other kitchen duties assigned by the Chef or Kitchen Manager.

Additional Responsibilities for Lead Cook

Coordinate daily food preparation and kitchen service.

Assign duties to cooks and kitchen helpers.

Supervise the kitchen team during the absence of the Chef or Kitchen Manager.

Ensure that all dishes meet the restaurant’s quality and presentation standards.

Monitor kitchen workflow and resolve operational issues during service.

Train new kitchen employees on recipes, procedures and safety requirements.

Assist with inventory checks, stock control and ordering.

Ensure proper opening and closing procedures are completed.

Report equipment faults, ingredient shortages and food-quality concerns promptly.

Requirements

Relevant working experience as a Cook, Senior Cook or Lead Cook.

Good knowledge of food preparation, cooking methods and kitchen operations.

Able to follow recipes and maintain consistent food quality.

Strong understanding of food hygiene and workplace safety standards.

Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Good communication, organisation and time-management skills.

Leadership or supervisory experience is preferred for the Lead Cook position.

Responsible, punctual and able to work well under pressure.

Willing to work shifts, weekends and public holidays as scheduled.

Working Hours

5-day work week

44 working hours per week

Shift hours will be scheduled according to operational requirements.
