The posting

Introduction

Are you in a season of growth, learning, and ready to focus on building your career? TLS Tutorials is seeking a driven and dedicated Curriculum Specialist – Science to join our dynamic and fast-growing core team.

We’re not just another tuition centre — we are a mentorship-driven, student-first organisation committed to delivering quality education and continuously improving how students learn.

Unlike a conventional teaching position, this role places a strong emphasis on curriculum development, with Primary Science as your core area of ownership. You will develop, refine and improve learning materials based on syllabus requirements, student performance and insights gathered from the classroom.

At the same time, you will remain closely connected to students through the teaching of Primary Science, Math and Lower Secondary Science, allowing you to see first-hand how curriculum translates into learning outcomes. Candidates with a strong academic foundation in Chemistry or a related discipline may also have opportunities to support Upper Secondary Chemistry.

You will also work closely with our Head of Curriculum to support the development and quality assurance of our Mathematics curriculum, giving you broader exposure to curriculum design across both Mathematics and Science.

What Can You Expect

1. Take Ownership of Primary Science Curriculum

  • Play a key role in the development, review and continuous improvement of our Primary Science curriculum.
  • Develop worksheets, lesson materials, assessments, revision resources and educator guides aligned with the MOE syllabus.
  • Identify common student misconceptions and learning gaps and translate these insights into better curriculum materials and interventions.
  • Build curriculum that develops not only content mastery, but also scientific reasoning, application and answering techniques.

2. Stay Connected to the Classroom

  • Teach Primary Science, Math and Lower Secondary Science in our 1 Educator : 4 Students small-group setting.
  • Use classroom observations and student performance to understand where and why students struggle.
  • Translate these insights back into curriculum development, creating a continuous cycle of develop → teach → analyse → improve.
  • Depending on subject competency and operational requirements, opportunities may also be available to teach or support Upper Secondary Chemistry.

3. Work Across Mathematics & Science Curriculum

  • Work directly with our Head of Curriculum on curriculum projects beyond your core Science portfolio.
  • Support the development and refinement of Mathematics worksheets, assessments, answer keys and learning resources.
  • Contribute to curriculum quality assurance, question design and resource development.
  • Develop broader capabilities in curriculum design and educational content development across subjects.

4. Innovative & Data-Informed Culture

  • Work in a team that continuously experiments with better ways of teaching and learning.
  • Use student performance data, diagnostic insights and educator feedback to inform curriculum decisions.
  • Help develop learning strategies that go beyond traditional tuition models.
  • Explore how technology and data can improve curriculum quality and student outcomes.

5. Collaborative & Supportive Team

  • Be part of a close-knit, forward-thinking Curriculum and Educator Team.
  • Collaborate regularly with the Head of Curriculum and fellow educators.
  • Receive feedback on curriculum and teaching while contributing your own observations and ideas.
  • Work cross-functionally on student support and organisational initiatives.

6. Professional Growth Opportunities

  • Develop expertise in curriculum design, assessment development, teaching and educational analytics.
  • Gain exposure to curriculum development across Primary Science, Secondary Science and Mathematics.
  • Take on increasing curriculum ownership as your capabilities develop.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects as the organisation grows.

7. Aligned Rewards & Incentives

  • Salary: $4,800 - $5,200 /month, depending on experience and qualifications.
  • Growth Bonuses: Stock units & Equity based on contribution and company success.

Who Should Apply

This role would be a strong fit if:

  • You are passionate about Science education and enjoy thinking deeply about how students learn.
  • You enjoy creating and improving educational materials, not just delivering existing lessons.
  • You are analytical and naturally ask why students make particular mistakes or struggle with certain concepts.
  • You are comfortable moving between curriculum development and classroom teaching.
  • You are meticulous and care about scientific accuracy, question quality and the finer details of educational materials.
  • You are driven, resilient and comfortable working in a growing organisation where processes are continuously improving.
  • You want to develop beyond classroom teaching and build deeper capabilities in curriculum and educational development.

What Makes You Succeed

  • A degree in Chemistry or a related Science discipline is strongly preferred.
  • Strong academic foundation in Science, with sufficient subject depth to teach Primary and Lower Secondary Science confidently.

  • Prior experience in Primary Science curriculum development, educational content development or teaching is strongly preferred.
  • Experience teaching Primary Science and/or Secondary Science in a school, tuition or enrichment environment would be advantageous.
  • Experience developing Mathematics curriculum or educational resources would be advantageous but is not required.

Curriculum & Teaching Skills

  • Strong understanding of Science concepts and their progression from Primary to Secondary levels.

Personal Attributes

  • A genuine passion for teaching and curriculum development.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Curious and analytical, with an interest in understanding why students succeed or struggle.
  • Positive and proactive, with a strong sense of ownership and responsibility.
  • Adaptable to a fast-paced and evolving environment.
  • A collaborative team player who can also independently manage assigned curriculum projects.
  • Open to feedback and willing to continuously refine both curriculum and teaching practices.

What Your Daily Role Looks Like

Primary Science Curriculum Development

As the core responsibility of the role, you will:

  • Develop and refine Primary 3 to Primary 6 Science curriculum materials.
  • Create worksheets, topical practices, lesson resources, revision materials and assessments.
  • Develop answer keys, marking guidelines and educator notes.

  • Review materials for scientific accuracy, clarity, progression and appropriate difficulty.
  • Develop questions that assess conceptual knowledge, application, interpretation and scientific reasoning.
  • Identify recurring student misconceptions and create resources to address them.
  • Develop differentiated resources for students with different levels of mastery.

Curriculum Analysis & Quality Assurance

  • Analyse student work, diagnostic assessments and academic performance to identify content gaps, misconceptions and skill deficiencies.

Working Arrangement

  • 10am - 7pm (Four Weekdays)
  • One weekend working day (Saturday or Sunday), where required.
  • Curriculum-first role, complemented by teaching responsibilities.
  • Teaching deployment primarily across Primary Science, Math and Lower Secondary Science.

  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
