The posting

We are partnering with a leading global consumer technology company to identify an experienced Design Manager – Experience to shape end-to-end experiences across intelligent and connected products. This is a strategic design leadership role spanning physical product, HMI, digital interfaces, mobile applications, onboarding and connected ecosystems.

About the Role As Design Manager – Experience, you will define how users experience intelligent products from initial discovery through long-term everyday use. You will shape the complete ecosystem including the physical product, controls and feedback, digital app, setup and onboarding, and the relationship between physical and digital experiences. You will work at the intersection of Design, Technology and Product, translating complex technical capabilities into experiences that are intuitive, premium and engaging. You will set the experience vision, define requirements and bring together designers, engineers, software teams, researchers and business stakeholders to bring the vision to life.

What You’ll Lead 1. End-to-End Digital Experience

  • Define experiences across the app and connected product ecosystem.
  • Shape user journeys, behaviours and interactions across everyday use cases, complex states, faults and edge cases.
  • Partner with Digital Design and Software teams to translate experience vision into clear and prioritised requirements.

2. Physical Product Experience

  • Shape how users interact directly with intelligent products.
  • Define experiences across controls, sensors, displays, audio feedback, haptics, connectivity and product behaviour.
  • Partner with Product Design, Engineering and HMI teams to make complex technology intuitive and easy to use.

3. Complete Onboarding Journey

  • Own the experience from product unboxing through long-term ownership.
  • Cover packaging, quick-start guidance, activation, product setup, app connection and first use.
  • Identify where users need guidance, reassurance or education and create clear, intuitive journeys.

4. HMI & On-Product Experience

  • Define the experience vision for Human-Machine Interfaces and on-product experiences.
  • Work with HMI, Product Design and Engineering teams to ensure physical and digital interfaces form one cohesive experience.
  • Establish experience principles and requirements that create consistency across the product ecosystem.

5. Future Experience Strategy

  • Stay informed about emerging technologies, robotics, intelligent products, consumer behaviour and evolving interaction models.
  • Identify opportunities to challenge established conventions and create differentiated experiences.
  • Translate these insights into experience strategies that can influence current products and future product roadmaps.

How You’ll Work

  • Act as the experience design voice within the product category.
  • Collaborate across Design, Engineering, Software, Research, Product, Business and Innovation teams.
  • Bring cross-functional teams together around user needs and experience objectives.
  • Translate technical complexity into clear experience decisions.
  • Balance user value, technical feasibility, cost, timelines and product ambition.
  • Connect physical and digital interactions to create one seamless product experience.

About You We’re looking for an experienced design leader with a strong background in digital product design, UX or experience design, ideally with experience in connected products, intelligent hardware or complex physical-digital ecosystems. You should bring:

  • Significant experience leading end-to-end product or experience design.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating experience with premium consumer products or technology-led experiences.
  • Experience defining experiences across multiple touchpoints rather than isolated interfaces.
  • Strong understanding of digital product design and UX, with the ability to work confidently with software and engineering teams.
  • Experience with physical product interaction, HMI or connected devices.
  • Robotics experience would be a strong advantage / nice to have, particularly experience designing user experiences for robotic, autonomous or intelligent products.
  • Ability to translate complex technical capabilities into simple and intuitive user experiences.
  • Strong communication, storytelling and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Experience leading and influencing multidisciplinary design teams.
  • Ability to move between future vision, product strategy and detailed experience requirements.
  • Curiosity about emerging technologies and a strong understanding of where product experiences are heading. UEN: 202329526G EA Licence: 23S2061

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
