The posting

The Training and Performance Director will serve as the primary leader within a facility or market for training new and existing employees. They will train employees on the proper use of our operating systems and internal processes, while providing individual support to help them improve their performance.

The Director, Training & Performance – APAC is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of operational training, systems capability, and performance improvement initiatives across the Asia-Pacific region.

The role will partner closely with Operations, Implementation, Commercial, Information Technology, Compliance and Human Resources to strengthen operational capability, improve adoption of systems and processes, support new customer and business implementations, and address performance gaps across the region.

The position will serve as a key link among regional leadership, country operations, and functional teams, ensuring employees have the knowledge, tools, processes, and training needed to deliver consistent operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

Regional Training Strategy & Governance

  • Develop and lead the APAC operational training and performance strategy in alignment with regional business priorities.
  • Establish consistent training standards, methodologies, competency requirements and governance across APAC.
  • Identify regional capability gaps and develop targeted training and performance improvement programmes.
  • Create frameworks for assessing employee proficiency and measuring training effectiveness.
  • Monitor training compliance, completion and effectiveness across countries and functions.
  • Develop scalable training solutions that can be deployed consistently across the region.

Systems & Process Training

  • Lead training for new and existing employees on company operating systems, applications and internal processes.
  • Ensure employees are assessed and signed off as proficient in applicable system modules and processes.
  • Develop and coordinate training for system enhancements, new modules, and technology rollouts.
  • Provide training and guidance on Power BI and other reporting tools to improve KPI management and operational decision-making.
  • Work with Information Technology and Operations to translate system functionality into practical operational workflows.
  • Drive adoption of new systems, tools and processes across APAC.

Operational Performance & Continuous Improvement

  • Analyse operational KPIs, recurring performance gaps and process issues to identify training or capability requirements.
  • Partner with country and regional Operations leaders to develop appropriate corrective and improvement plans.
  • Support the standardisation and implementation of operational best practices across APAC.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, standardise and improve processes across countries and functions.
  • Track the impact of training and performance initiatives through measurable business and operational outcomes.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and promote a culture of operational excellence.

Implementation & Business Support

  • Partner with Implementation teams during customer onboarding and new programme launches to ensure employees are trained and operationally ready before go-live.
  • Support the development and rollout of customer-specific SOPs, processes and training programmes.
  • Work across Commercial, Implementation and Operations teams to identify gaps between customer commitments and operational execution.
  • Support major regional implementations, operational transitions and business transformation initiatives.
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer between global, regional and country teams.
  • Provide training and performance support following implementation to promote sustainable adoption and operational stability.

Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the regional point of contact for operational training and performance matters across APAC.
  • Partner closely with Operations, Commercial, Implementation, Compliance, HR and Technology leaders.
  • Build strong relationships with country management and operational leaders to understand local requirements while maintaining regional consistency.
  • Collaborate with Corporate and other regions to share best practices and adapt global programmes for APAC requirements.
  • Provide regional leadership with visibility of key capability gaps, training priorities, implementation readiness and performance trends.

Training Development & Delivery

  • Design, develop and continuously improve training content, SOPs, user guides, assessments and other learning materials.
  • Deliver structured classroom, virtual and on-the-job training where appropriate.
  • Develop train-the-trainer capability within countries to improve scalability and local ownership.
  • Establish onboarding and refresher-training frameworks for operational employees.
  • Incorporate feedback from employees, operational leaders and functional teams into training improvements.
  • Maintain appropriate training documentation, records and reporting.

Education & Experience

  • Diploma or degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, Training & Development or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • Significant experience within freight forwarding, logistics or supply chain operations.
  • Strong experience in operational training, systems implementation, process improvement, customer implementation or performance management.
  • Regional or multi-country experience within Asia Pacific strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting or leading systems and process rollouts across multiple locations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across Operations, Commercial, Technology and other functional teams.
  • Experience leading change, improving processes and driving adoption across geographically dispersed teams.

Skills & Capabilities

  • Strong understanding of freight forwarding and logistics operations.
  • Strong facilitation, training and presentation skills.
  • Ability to translate complex systems and operational processes into practical training and guidance.
  • Strong analytical capability with the ability to use operational KPIs to identify performance gaps.
  • Experience with operational systems, reporting tools and business applications; Power BI experience preferred.
  • Strong project and implementation management capability.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills across different cultures and organisational levels.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple regional priorities independently.
  • Strong attention to detail with a practical, solutions-oriented approach.
  • Change management and continuous improvement capability.
  • Lean Six Sigma or similar continuous improvement certification would be advantageous.
