Job Summary

As an ETL Test Engineer, you will perform manual and automated testing to validate data extraction, transformation, and loading processes. Collaborate with data engineering teams to ensure data platform quality, reliability, and sustainable testing approaches.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute quality assurance strategies, test plans, and test cases for enterprise data platforms and applications to ensure robust platform performance
  • Perform integration, system, end-to-end, and data validation testing to verify platform quality and operational reliability
  • Validate data quality by assessing completeness, accuracy, consistency, format compliance, schema conformance, and data latency against defined criteria
  • Identify, document, track, and verify defects using defect management tools, collaborating with development and engineering teams to resolve issues promptly
  • Coordinate testing activities with cross-functional teams to support successful platform releases and minimize risks
  • Monitor quality metrics and analyze testing outcomes to recommend improvements in testing processes and quality standards
  • Prepare comprehensive test documentation, test reports, and operational knowledge transfer materials to support team understanding and continuity
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by evaluating and enhancing quality assurance processes and testing methodologies

Required competencies and certifications

  • ETL Testing experience using Informatica, Talend, or similar tools essential for validating data pipelines and transformations
  • Proficiency in ETL and Data Warehouse Testing to ensure accurate data integration and processing
  • Strong skills in SQL Data Validation and Reconciliation to verify data integrity across systems
  • Ability to perform Source-to-Target Mapping to confirm correct data flow and transformation
  • Expertise in Data Transformation Testing to validate applied business logic and data accuracy
  • Experience conducting Functional, Integration, and Regression Testing to ensure comprehensive platform validation
  • Competence in Test Case Preparation and Execution to systematically verify software functionality
  • Defect Management skills using tools such as Jira, ALM, or Azure DevOps to track and resolve issues efficiently
  • Familiarity with data integration tools including Alteryx, Informatica, SSIS, or Talend to support testing activities

Preferred competencies and qualifications

  • Experience with test automation and test management tools to enhance testing efficiency and coverage
  • Knowledge of API testing techniques to validate data exchange and integration points
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills to effectively engage with cross-functional teams
