Why This Role Matters

Behind every programme registration, feedback form and spreadsheet row is a person.

As our Beneficiary Engagement Executive, you will help Breast Cancer Foundation (BCF) provide meaningful programmes and support for people affected by breast cancer and their caregivers.

This is a hands-on programme and beneficiary engagement role. You will spend much of your time coordinating programmes, communicating with beneficiaries and partners, managing programme details and follow-up, maintaining accurate records, and helping the team understand what we can learn from feedback and programme information.

We are looking for someone who does not simply ask:

“Did the programme happen?”

but also:

“What did people tell us? What worked? What could be better next time?”

You do not need to have all the answers.

You do need to be organised, thoughtful, willing to learn and comfortable working with both people and information.

What You’ll Be Doing

Engage & Deliver

  • Build respectful and supportive relationships with beneficiaries and caregivers, responding with empathy, professionalism and appropriate follow-through.
  • Plan, coordinate and deliver beneficiary programmes, survivorship activities and community well-being initiatives.
  • Manage programme logistics, registrations, schedules, communications, vendors and post-programme follow-up.
  • Gather and document beneficiary feedback, queries and observations, and highlight opportunities to improve programmes or the beneficiary experience.
  • Provide beneficiaries with clear information about relevant BCF programmes and services within the scope of your role.
  • Handle sensitive situations and information with empathy, appropriate professional boundaries, confidentiality and sound judgement.
  • Recognise when a beneficiary concern or situation requires additional support and raise it promptly with the appropriate colleague.

Work Across BCF & Our Community

  • Build constructive working relationships with healthcare institutions, community organisations, service providers, volunteers and other programme partners.
  • Coordinate with colleagues and external stakeholders so that responsibilities, timelines, changes and next steps are clear.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues responsible for volunteer management and with volunteers supporting beneficiary programmes.
  • Support relevant Foundation-wide campaigns, events and cross-team projects.
  • Keep colleagues informed when plans or circumstances change.
  • Flag issues, delays or changes that may affect programme delivery early, and follow through on agreed next steps.

Strong programmes rarely happen because one person somehow remembers everything.

Good coordination matters.

Turn Data Into Useful Insight

Our programmes generate useful information.

We would rather it did not spend the rest of its life quietly ageing in a spreadsheet.

You will:

  • maintain accurate programme, participation, feedback and expenditure records;
  • organise and review programme information to identify useful patterns, trends, gaps and opportunities;
  • look beyond headline numbers and consider what participation and feedback may be telling us;
  • highlight useful observations and possible areas for improvement;
  • help translate findings into practical next steps; and
  • support the preparation and maintenance of simple dashboards, trackers and reports to help the team monitor programme performance and beneficiary needs.

You do not need to be a data scientist.

You do need to be curious enough to ask:

“What can we learn from this?”

Use AI & Digital Tools Responsibly

We believe technology should make good work easier and better — not replace judgement, empathy or common sense.

You will:

  • use AI-enabled and digital tools appropriately to support research, planning, reporting, analysis and everyday productivity;
  • look for practical ways technology can improve programme delivery, communication and team workflows;
  • check AI-generated information for accuracy and suitability before using or sharing it;
  • use your own judgement rather than relying on AI-generated answers without checking them;
  • protect personal, confidential and sensitive information; and
  • follow BCF’s applicable data protection, technology and information-handling guidelines.

You do not need to be an AI expert.

You should be willing to learn new tools, use them sensibly and know when not to use them.

What Success Looks Like

You are doing well in this role when:

  • beneficiaries feel listened to, respected and appropriately supported;
  • programmes are well organised and reliably delivered;
  • registrations, logistics, communications and follow-up are handled properly;
  • beneficiary feedback is captured and useful observations are shared with the team;
  • programme information and records are accurate and organised;
  • the team is able to learn from programme data and feedback;
  • colleagues and partners receive clear information and few last-minute surprises;
  • issues and changes are raised early rather than left until they become bigger problems; and
  • each programme helps BCF understand a little more about how we can serve our community better.

The Kind of Person Who Will Thrive Here

You lead with empathy

You listen before assuming.

You understand that some people may meet BCF during difficult or uncertain points in their lives, and you respond with sensitivity, patience and respect.

You also understand that helping someone sometimes means knowing when to seek advice or involve the right colleague.

You are organised and dependable

You keep track of details, deadlines and follow-up.

If you say you will do something, others should not need to chase you repeatedly to find out what happened.

You are curious

Feedback makes you think.

Numbers make you ask questions.

If participation changes or beneficiaries keep raising the same issue, you want to understand why.

You work well with others

You keep colleagues informed, involve people when needed and recognise that programmes usually require several people to work together.

You do not wait until the last minute to tell everyone that the plan has changed.

You use judgement

You know that not every issue can or should be solved by you alone.

You are comfortable asking questions, checking facts and raising concerns when something does not look right.

You keep learning

You are open to feedback, new tools and better ways of working.

“This is how we’ve always done it” is unlikely to be your strongest argument.

Essential Requirements

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

  • Relevant experience in programme coordination, beneficiary or community engagement, healthcare, social services, events, member/client engagement or a related area.
  • Good organisational and coordination skills, including the ability to manage timelines, details and follow-up.
  • Confidence communicating and building relationships with people from different backgrounds.
  • Good written communication and the ability to prepare clear programme records, updates and reports.
  • Comfort working with spreadsheets and basic programme information.
  • Ability to review information and identify useful patterns, observations or areas that may need attention.
  • Willingness to learn and use digital and AI-enabled tools responsibly.
  • Sound judgement when handling confidential information and sensitive beneficiary situations.
  • Working proficiency with common Microsoft 365 tools.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned responsibilities while collaborating closely with colleagues.
  • Willingness to support occasional programmes or events outside standard office hours when required.

Good to Have

Useful, but not essential:

  • Experience in the non-profit, healthcare, community or social service sector.
  • Experience working with beneficiaries, patients, caregivers or people navigating significant life circumstances.
  • Exposure to programme evaluation, surveys, feedback analysis or impact reporting.
  • Experience using dashboards, CRM, beneficiary-management or programme-management systems.
  • Experience working with community partners or volunteers.
  • A relevant Diploma, Degree or equivalent practical experience.

Why Join Us

You will work close to the people BCF exists to serve — and close enough to the programmes to help make them better.

Some days may involve beneficiaries and community partners.

Some may involve programmes, registrations and logistics.

Others may involve reports, spreadsheets and figuring out why one number does not seem to agree with another.

What connects the work is purpose:

using what we hear, observe and learn to provide better support to the breast cancer community.

If you care about people, enjoy organising things well, are curious about what information can tell us and believe that good intentions still require good follow-through, we would like to hear from you.

You do not need to meet every item under Good to Have before applying.

If you can demonstrate the essential capabilities and behaviours we are looking for, we encourage you to apply.

Our Approach to Hiring

BCF is committed to fair and merit-based recruitment. We assess applicants based on the skills, experience, capabilities and job-related behaviours relevant to the role and welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds who can contribute to our mission.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
