The posting

The Facilities Maintenance Technician provides on-site support for minor repair and maintenance works across the school. The role helps to ensure that day-to-day maintenance requests are attended to promptly and efficiently, contributing to a safe, functional and well-maintained environment.

Responsibilities:

1. Minor Repair & Maintenance

  • Carry out minor repairs and replacement of locks, handles, hinges, door hardware, fixtures and fittings.
  • Perform minor carpentry, plumbing, painting, patching, touch-up and general building repair works.
  • Carry out minor electrical works, including light bulb replacement, minor electrical repairs and rectification of electrical defects.

2. Estate Maintenance Support

  • Attend to ad-hoc maintenance requests and minor rectification works across the school premises.
  • Conduct basic checks and identify maintenance issues, escalating more complex or specialised works where necessary.
  • Support the team in maintaining the cleanliness, functionality and condition of facilities.

3. Tools & Work Records

  • Use common hand and power tools safely and appropriately.
  • Maintain proper records of maintenance works completed and materials used.
  • Adhere to workplace safety requirements and relevant maintenance procedures.

Requirements:

  • Minimum NITEC/Higher NITEC or equivalent relevant technical qualification.
  • At least 2 years of relevant hands-on experience in building maintenance, facilities maintenance or handyman services.
  • Practical skills in minor carpentry, plumbing, painting, fixtures and fittings, basic electrical-related maintenance and general building repairs.
  • Able to work independently and respond promptly to maintenance requests.
  • Good problem-solving and practical troubleshooting skills.
  • Able to use common hand and power tools safely.
  • Responsible, hands-on and service-oriented, with good attention to detail.
  • Able to maintain proper work records and documentation.
